What's on your equipment want list for next turkey season? I am going to buy a David Halloran ceramic pot call. Might check out the Mossberg Pro turkey if they make a 20 GA. What about you guys?
I'm always on the lookout for a better tool/toy for turkey hunting. The perfect seating eludes me but I have several options already.
The perfect turkey gun isn't in my safe yet, but I have my eyes open for it. More ammo, a new red dot and the perfect call are on my list of wants before next spring. I hope to make that call myself tho.
Started shooting TSS a few years ago out of my 12 gauges. Going to buy myself a 20 gauge this offseason. Looking at getting the Benelli M2, I want a semi auto. Currently I have 2 pump action guns. Other than that I am looking at getting a quality push pin box (any recommendations from you guys is appreciated when it comes to a pushpin.) Bought my first tube call from Tom Osmer this past year, didn't really get good enough with it to carry in the woods before the season started though. But by next year I should be good to go.

I love my Winchester's but I wish they had 22 or 24" Barrels and the ability to co-witness red dot and bead. The new Mossberg has these features but I just hope they have the reliability of my SX3 and SX4. If so they may be the perfect gun!
Seating has been tough to find. I just added a trail cam strap to my Browning Strutter chair and I can now wear it like a back pack and that same trail cam strap keeps it from opening while wearing it on my back. It was a real nice improvement.

There #9 are great, you may want to look at their small town blend also. I shoot the small town blend out of my Mossberg 835 and #9 out of my other gun.

In the process now working with Glenda Green on a new satchel and I ordered a matching set of calls from Harrison Custom Calls and just picking up some other calls before next season...
I was thinking a .410, but honestly would rather someone made a 3lb 20ga.
I started making wing bone calls so I have a bunch of new toys already!

I have a north mountain leafy suit for early and late season. one in obsession and one in break up country for the early season. No issues have had them both about 5 years now. Once the weather warms up I just wear a pair of OD green doctors scrubs under mine. I am retired from the Army and they sell them on base at Fort Campbell. I have some scrubs in the BDU woodland pattern also.

I've carried an 870 spring gobbler hunting for more years than I care to mention but, I'm thinking a single shot Stevens 301 for next season. I'm older and more wore out and a lighter gun is in my future. I'm thinking 12ga but hear lot's of good things about their 20ga. I have a set of identical twin 870's in 12 & 20 and honestly the 20ga can hold it's own. I've got several months to figure it out.

I think the Stevens shoot pretty good, but I am opting for a semi in 20 gauge. Just my personal preference but I like a quicker follow up shot is needed. So far I have not needed one with a shotgun. But I know once I switch to a single shot I will need one.

Probably a new pair of boots and maybe try to find the perfect pair of turkey hunting pants. However I may just modify some of the ones I have. I am sure they will reflect my sense of "High Fashion" adequately
Waterproof boots. The new this year Redwing vaprtrek snake boots aren't even water repellent after 4 weekend trips. What a joke. Sucks putting your warm feet in wet boots when it's 40 degrees.
Happy I love my Kuiu pants, they are expensive, but they fit like a pair of pants should.

Will give them a look. My main gripe is that all mine rip or the material is too noisy. I hate nylon on any hunting clothes. I bought a turkey vest this year that is that way. Love the fit and layout but the material is probably gonna make me give it away.

I did my homework this season and believe it will be extremely useful, practical and wasn't it any sketchy areas where I thought it'd get stolen, so I'm goin for it!
Stock up on Tss- I'm down to 4 boxes!! Maybe a few hooks diaphragms-
A cow horn call, a Jolly Scratch Tube and a better camera lens. Oh and some boots that actually fit right.
Some waterproof snake boots. Mine got me wet several times this year. They only have 2 seasons on them. Thought about getting my Remington 20 gauge youth model dipped in Mossy Oak during the off season as well.

I'm probably going to be looking for a new vest. Mine is 10 seasons old and showing some wear.
I don't think I need anything but when the time comes and you start to looking around it's always I need this or that might or would work. Who knows after this season's inventory what I might need to replace.
Better hunting experience's through aggressive spending!
I'm thinking about a alps grand slam vest. Would also like to try a trumpet call.

I might get a new vest. I bought the Alps Elite 4.0 this year and although I don't hate it, I definitely don't love it either. To get the right fit in the shoulders it is too big around the waist and the striker pockets absolutely suck. They are on the inside so any sweat/condenstaion is held right net to them and I have had some fall out multiple times so I don't even use the pockets that are designated for strikers.

I have the Nomad Killing Time vest and I love it. But this morning I went with just my Monster Fanny pack and it was actually very nice without a vest. Might just use a pack in the future
Well I have shot an H&R 12 single and I started with the 20 gauge model that has the mod barrel. I have also shot them with my 870 12 gauge and my Franchi 12 gauge, but I just love carrying single shots.
So, with that being said I am looking at a 301 in 20 gauge. I do not like the Red dot that comes with it for the package, looks so bulky up there. I am looking at reflexes to pair with it as well.
I suppose I am a touch late to the TSS game as well as I have never used any, so I have been doing some research on the different brands...any info on the Boss Shotshell Tom in 7 or 9 would be awesome!
Maybe a new Bottomlands top, we will see.

I wish I felt like this, I really don't need anymore but...... I have my eye on more turkey calls, of all types really I have an addiction. I have Josh Farley making me a few scratchboxes padauk with butternut soundboard and a black walnut with poplar soundboard, that I'm excited to get. I have two trumpets and I am learning to use them so that might also be a call or two I end up ordering in the off-season as well as who knows what.
A Jetboil MiniMo stove and a bucket of freeze dried meals!
Now that I given it some thought I might look into a light weight comfortable chair so my time in the woods is more pleasurable.

I couldn't imagine using a vest cushion again. My Browning chair makes sits so much more enjoyable and I can sit longer and without moving so much. Plus my body doesn't creak and crack when getting up from a nice chair. If you get a lounger style chair make yourself some nice backpack straps for it. It makes a huge difference.

My season is over. Still thinking turkey and just ordered a Mossberg SA 20 and a Carlson's choke for it.
Now I'll be red dot shopping before next spring.
Anyone got a real light sling they like a lot and recommend? I have some CLAW slings, looking for something lighter for a real lightweight rig.
5 weeks vacation and a few new shotguns, but vacation is what I want from Santa for next spring.I am interested to see if Remington brings out some new turkey guns in the next year.
Tail Feathers I use the Limbsaver Kodiak Air sling on my SA-20. I don't know if it's any lighter than the claw but it feels less bulky to me. Your going to love your new new gun it's a real shooter and a pleasure to carry.
What I need the most is new land to hunt. My primary hunting areas are a couple of small horse farms about a mile apart. I usually take one bird off each property. Over the past 2 years I've been shut out. I hunted 50+ hours between the two this Spring and only saw one hen the entire season. I did not hear a gobble on either property. Come to find out that one of the farms between the two I hunt put in a couple of big food plots, which draw birds from a wide area. I heard four lone shots from that area during the course of the season, while I never got to take the safety off. What used to be a consistently good place to hunt is simply no longer occupied by turkeys.

Same thing happened with me at one of my spots this season. Small piece of public around 150 acres. Surrounded by private property. One gate. Hard climb right from the gate. Anyways I've taken a gobbler 3 years in a row since I found it until this season. A retired guy across the main highway has been working hard on his farm for wildlife last year. He's got the time, money, and acres to do it. Dont fault him at all, nice guy, but definitely changed things for me. All the gobblers were across the road. It happens.

I ordered a Winchester SX4 20 gauge in all Bottom Land camo and 24" barrel. Already own two SX3's and this will be my second SX4. Not the lightest 20 ga out there but I just love these guns and they are extremely reliable and pattern well. Also soft shooting so I hope my 8 year old will enjoy them also one day. Congrats on the new gun. I always had excellent luck with my Mossbergs and I have been eyeing a 500 in 20 gauge.

I wanted to try one that is lighter and shorter.
Lacire, thanks for the sling recommendation. Just yesterday I bought an Allen ultralite High Country sling for it. I have a neoprene Butler Creek on my deer rifle and it carries great but slips a bit. But then, it's about 20 years old and some of the "sticky" may be worn off. If I don't like this Allen, that is probably the next thing I'll be looking at.

Take a look at Vero Vellini Slings. I have tried the all, these are by far the most comfortable for me. Made in Italy, do not slip and are not crazy priced. I have used one for 20 years, looks brand new. They make a slip on that works great too. Pictures are 2 of mine, a slip on, and the stud mount that over 20 years old. I have another one in camo that is wider on top. They offer wider if you want that style, they are both equally as comfortable.
I've seen those Vero Vellini slings for years but never had one in my hands. I'll give them a look.
