I was at two local walmarts today to find no more Thugs in stock. No place on the shelves and both section managers told me they cannot order anymore! Something tells me either these were a short production run or they are totally stopping production of this shell and walmart dropped them. Anyone else have any info?
Saw just a few boxes in 5's and 4's here.
I would bet it is more of a Wal-Mart policy. Turkey ammo is seasonal, and they probably don't want to order more.
I just got two boxes and while im not giving out on my Hevi I would stock up on the best shooting lead Ive found in awhile if they're going away. My Wal-mart had a good stock of 6's this past saturday but we're a few weeks off our opener still.

That is the difference. Most stores in the south are almost sold out because season is half way through.
I was in my local Wal-Mart yesterday, and there were zero Thugs in stock in 12 gauge.
(They did have some 20 gauge #5 Thugs)
There were zero #6 Turkey loads to be found in either 12 or 20 gauge, in any brand.

X2 they do the same thing here with dove and waterfowl loads. They stock up lightly before each season and dont restock whats sold.
I've even called and asked Federal and nobody will say for sure or claims to know anything about these shells. I'm willing to bet it was marketing deal with walmart, once the show is gone the shells vanish.
I can't find any here in DE. Must have check 7-8 stores! Found some 31/2" #5 in MD.
Both my Walmarts still have a lot.

Better buy a case of those 3.5-6's, i just have that feeling this was a one time deal.
Well 1 Walmart only has 2 of the 3.5" #6's. The last time I was at the other one it had quite a few. I'll have to go check. I know there are quite a few of the other loads.
My local wally world told me today that turkey ammo period, had been deleted for the season. I guess they figure you had better buy it before the season starts or you are just out of luck.
I just have a feeling once that show is done these shells go away. I just find it odd that nobody at even federal can even tell me anything about the product. They act clueless when you call and ask the questions.
BPS in Pearl, MS has 4 or 5 boxes of 3" 1 7/8 Ounce #6 Federal Strut Shok for $10 per box.
The closest thing to the Thugs, outside of Wal-Mart.
I bought 2 more boxes of the 3.5" 2oz #6 loads. They got 5 boxes left. Both Walmarts have a lot of the 3" 1 and 7/8oz #6's as well as plenty of 5's in both 3.5" and 3".
I checked all over down here and couldn't find any then found some about 2 hours away and bought all 12 boxes over 2 days. Chief.
Get'em while ya can, they are all cleaned out around my area!
I talked to my walmarts sporting goods manager the other day. He says they get one big stocking order before the season and are not allowed to order more because they don't want a bunch left over after the season. He also says he has inquired, and they will be back next season.
The wallyworld up here in my part of the country didn't get any in at all this year. Plenty of winchester and remington loads though. Their sporting goods department is pretty much a joke anyways.

Let's hope they bring them back! This time put them on more stores shelves!
I picked up the only two boxes of 3.5" #6s that my local Walmart had on the shelf. They had a bunch of #5s in 3" & 3.5".

Not sure what part of DE you're in but the Walmart in Elkton, MD (2min from DE) had a good stock of turkey thugs. 5s and 6s in 3 1/2" and 3" plus some 20ga loads. Pretty good turkey selection for a walmart.
It is looking like the Thugs will be a Blue/Gold box type commodity! It will be funny to see folks scramble to buy just one more box in a few years!!!

I can agree with that. If federal knows whats good they will continue these shells even when the thugs show goes away. They should bring'em back in the old gold and blue boxes! Bet they's sell quicker than they currently do!
I shot 2 3" #6 and 2 3.5" 2oz #6 Thug loads Sat from my 870 and 835. I'll just say I wasn't that impressed. The 3" loads shot terrible. The 3.5" out of the Star Dot did 132. The other one sucked.

Well the 7's and the magblend I shot through the Haymaker .670 in my 870 Sat sucked as well. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in that choke. I'm either getting my money back or going to visit Indian Creek.
So much for the ".670 is a magic constriction" eh? There are still a few boxes of thug 6s around here locally. However, thy didn't shoot all that well in my gun/chokes either. I think I'll leave them for the others guys.

You got me there. I really had high hopes for this choke. This choke was not that good.
Try running some Federal FCW HW through the Haymaker. It might do well.
It was designed to accommodate that shell, wasn't it?
Otherwise, I couldn't justify buying / using a Haymaker, over an Indian Creek with the wad catchers and ports.
I got my money back for the Haymaker choke today. Now I wished I could get my money back for the 3" Magblends. Oh well.
in ohio there ever where, my walmart has 30 boxes if not more .

I talked to the guys at IC about the haymaker and they wouldnt swap it out because they dont own the rights the choke. Pissed me off good, didnt shoot worth a damn out of my 870 20ga. I have one for the SM but hesitant to even burn up what little bit of hevi and blends just to test it.
I like 3" Hevi Magnum Blends. Ship me some, and I promise I'll send you something decent in return.
Philippe,
The local country/farm/hardware store called Buchheits I bought my choke from has a 100% unconditional guarantee on what they sell except ammo and maybe a few other items. I was told this along time ago that they will take back pretty much everything to keep from making a customer mad. All you have to do is keep the receipt. The guy at the sporting goods tried to tell me after I ask about taking the choke back if I don't like it, he said as long as you don't shoot it. I'm like oh ok. Now how am I going to tell if I am satisfied or not until I shoot it? The girl at the customer service desk never ask me one question other than the fact if I wanted to exchange it or return it. I said I want to return it for my money back. That's why I buy from them. Forget the guy behind the sporting good counter. Now it's up to them what they do with that choke. But Indian Creek always told me that any choke they make they stand behind 100%. They make the Haymaker choke for Down-n-Dirty Outdoors. One way or another I would be getting my money back. I'm 19 miles from Indian Creek. I would call them back again. I know they wouldn't be telling me no.
the walmart in Leesville,LA told me all turkey products they sale are ordered one time and sold until out. They will reorder next year what sold best this year.
