Sorry, I originally posted this in the turkey call section.
For those of you that are considering attending the Mr. Fox Vest Event on March 11 in West Point, I received a list of the call makers that will be present.
Houndstooth, Cody, Primos, Rolling Thunder, Quaker Boy, Woodstock II custom calls, Patrick Winston custom calls, Lick Skillet Yelpers, Swamp Boy's custom calls, Tom's Turkey Calls, Feathered Oaks custom calls, Butt Kicker game calls, Daniel Jones game calls, Thunderbird custom calls, Mr. E's custom calls, Madhatter calls by Redbeard, Jeffrey Erb custom calls, Wise Old Owl turkey calls, Cypress Creek mouth calls, Doug Smith custom calls, Backland game calls, Crooked Letter calls, Ross custom calls.
Apparently, the only Cody call for sale will be the Mr. Fox.
That vest sale is turning into an event! Good on 'em, I hope the folks that show up enjoy some good turkey fellowship.

I had never heard that. Sounds like a good place to visit some year.
Sounds like a place I need to attend sometime soon.
They are also planning to have food trucks and live entertainment. I just looking forward to visiting and talking turkey with some people. It's taking too long for the season to arrive.
Going to be a wild day there.
Does anyone know how they're planning to distribute the vest? First come, first served or some other method? The updates don't really seem to provide much detail.
Me and a couple buddies are heading down to west point tomorrow and pitching a tent in front of the mossy oak store. Gonna be chowing down on Mountain House freeze dried meals and peeing in milk jugs the next few days. We ain't losing our spot. I WILL GET A NUMBERED VEST
You can't pitch a tent or have a camper, it already said that in the details ...

Good luck with pitching a tent in front of the Store ... Hope you get a vest regardless

If you were in the loop on the event announcements it was made very clear no tents or RV Campers would be allowed. You can get in line as early as you'd like, but I'd only count on being able to occupy the amount of space you take when standing or sitting in a lawn chair.
Houndstooth just announced they are debuting their Mr. Fox call at the event. It appears to be a cherry pot with glass. It will also be available to order from their website on March 12th.

Making more unnumbered vests @ $450 each. Lol. $$$$$$$.
So does it cross anyone else's mind that since the Dixon vest has already done so well with resale and theres obviously people with the same intent on the fox vest, maybe "mossy oak" ie. The Haas family decides better extra money in their pockets rather than those that would buy for the purpose or resale? Seems like a more probable reason to announce additional run of vests to be made.

Yes. Those not blind sided by fanboy'ism saw it when it was announced that the unnumbered versions would be $450 too.
The only way I can see the justification of price now is if half of it went directly to TFT or nwtf. How do you charge that for something that's no longer a limited number collectors item?
And the bubble busted

While no hard figures have been given, it was said that a portion of the vests initial sale will go back to turkey research and conservation, and the first 200 numbered vest will be auctioned for years to come to continue to make that number climb even higher. The Apex ammo box gave a firm number of $20 of the $75 cost goes back to the turkeys. Primos is supposed to be doing something similar with the boxes they made, and hopefully the other call makers will follow suit. That's part of the whole reason for the vest and the project because of what Mr. Fox has done for conservation throughout his life.
I do think Mossy Oak is looking for a bigger portion of the money to be made with the initial sale, that's why the high retail price and the online pre-sale window that would allow anyone that currently wants one to have one. There will still be some collectibility in the numbered vests and people that didn't know about the vest that want one in the future, but it'll likely mitigate the stupid prices we saw post Nashville.
When it's all said and done this project will have raised a large amount of money for wild turkeys and research to help benefit the wild turkey that no hard core turkey hunter can say being a part of the project isn't special.

So apex shells retail at 55~ for 12 ga 3 in 1 1/4 oz boxes. So basically charge an extra 20 dollars that goes to "turkeys" and they still make the same amount of profit? Lord have mercy has the turkey industry flown off the handle.
I'd rather donate $20 to a conservation organization of my choosing, buy the shells at retail price and not play into the whole Fox hype.

What reason do you have to believe he is not sincere? I don't find it hard to believe that there are enough turkey hunters who genuinely appreciate Mossy Oak's values, the conservation efforts they have made, and how they represent hunters in the public eye, that would be disappointed to not get one. Sure, the vest is expensive and they are making money, but I don't understand the cynicism against a family who represents turkey hunting well and a brand that has given back to turkeys.

My biggest complaint about the guy comes from being his neighbor. They almost exclusively hunt property they own in Alabama. I hunted some family property in Westpoint in college(hail state). For two weeks I wrestled with a stubborn gobbler that split time between mine and his(toxey). He was religiously pitching somewhere on my side of the property line then as the morning went on, venturing over to Haas territory. Three mornings in a row I got within shot gun distance on the limb in pure darkness and three mornings in a row he pitched across a clear cut to Haas land. I made a call and eventually talked to the man himself. Explained what had been going on and begged for a 50 yard easement one morning to get this rascal whooped. Toxey said let me think about it, I'll call you back tomorrow. Two days later I watched the same thing happen only to be followed by a shotgun blast roughly 10 minutes after fly down. I coulda been dishonest and hopped a fence on property that never gets hunted but that ain't the way it went.

What did you expect? You told the guy where a Turkey was daily on his property. You can't be mad at a guy for killing a Turkey on his property and not letting you. Lol
and a valuable lesson was learned that day. Loose lips sink ships.

You don't tell a soul in that area of the country where a gobbler was living with consistency unless you have him dead in your hands. You signed that gobblers death warrant the moment you made the call.
Also sounds like you shouldn't have continued to try and get within shotgun range in the dark. He did it several times in a row because he knew you were in there. Each morning it didn't work out you needed to be a little further until he pitched back onto your side. You'd have found that fine line and killed him on your side had you not got impatient and made the phone call.

It comes with this year's cigar box that's themed for Mossy Oak and Mr. Fox as well as it comes with a cigar that's pretty decent. You don't typically get a cigar box from Apex unless you order three boxes of shells, and they hadn't done cigars previously either. The ammo is 20 gauge only and has a special hull with a Fox on it, as well as it was hand loaded and numbered individually by the Haas boys. Sure a lot of that is extra window stickers, but it is still apart of the project. The ammo is the only thing that is truly numbered to match the numbered vests with the exception of the special 1-10 calls/vests.
Pretty simple imo , if you have the extra funds set aside , and you love turkey hunting history and want to help fund some research ? Buy one .
Don't let some of these negative "male Karen's " sway what you want to do !

Huh they giving out cigars? I sure do wonder where that idea came from.
Looked like a decent crowd today!
Heck, dog-poop vests are $200 now...most vests are crap anyway...this deal is a non-issue to me...

Oh yeah. It started last night about 10:30 PM. As of 9AM this morning in West Point there was already around 200 people.
200 in line this morning?
Guess that's helping me decide if I was going to make the 6 hr drive.

It sounds like the crowd has greatly slowed down incoming traffic based off my buddy that's been in line since last night. Most folks are likely planning to get there early tomorrow morning I think. If you got in late this evening you'll probably make the numbered vest cut off, but would definitely be in for an unnumbered.
Safe travels if you decide to go! It'll be worth it.
Sounds like a good time with other turkey hunters. I had a great time Thursday at nwtf when I got in line. Blessed to get one of my own, if you haven't had the opportunity to hold one they are really cool, I was ecstatic when I got it.
Good luck and safe travels to all making the trip!
I have been planning since the announcement in January to make the drive up to be there. I ain't interested in buying a vest, I just wanted to see all of the calls and call makers. But I was diagnosed with Covid yesterday. I started running a fever on Wednesday and felt like I have been run over. So I went to the doctor and was positive. It is kicking my butt. Y'all please be careful and have a big time!! Pictures please!!!
Have a good one and May God bless y'all, Bo

That's kinda how it looked to me, bunch of good people having a good!
Folks probably just enjoy getting out & about!!
How many numbered vest are left? 0-200 auction items, family and staff? 201- 600 at nwtf.
Approx 1300 left. Is that accurate?

$450 doesn't seem like much considering many are just flipping them on ebay for $3,500+ ....and that's not the asking price.. that is the sold price for over 10 vests in the last few weeks... insane.

Nope, easy money for standing In line less than a day! If I could make it, I'd be there for sure. Good way to fund spring travels.
I have been here since about 215 this afternoon. Roughly 350th in line. It's been a great time meeting everyone and talking turkey. Great memories are being made here.
