Their profits would sky rocket if their first 870's included the Original bottomland, and Green Leaf. Wouldn't that be great....be safe, glad they are coming back......
Great to see Remington will still be around and workers will be back making a great firearm.
Glad to see this, but hope the quality is better than the last 15 years or so.
I haven't bought a Remington Firearm in a while. So can't speak to their firearms but the quality of their newer ammo had me disappointed. I hunt a slug only area and had several light strikes from different lots with their Accutips 12 gauge slugs. First time it cost me a nice 10 pointer. Went back to the range and fired off some Hornady with no problem so I knew it wasn't the firing pin. Then tried two different lots of the Accutips and had several light strikes. This was about 3 years ago. Needless to say I quit using all Remington ammo after this.
Regardless I am super happy that an iconic American company is getting a fresh start along with American workers and hopefully the quality control will be much better under new management.

I've see where a lot of people complain about Remington quality but have not experienced it at all. Almost every firearm I own is Remington however I never bought the walmart or entry level version . If it indeed it was happening ,hopefully it will all go well this time around. Looking forward to buying from them again.

From experience the last few years of supermags were mostly junk. I had problems with two. I found out that around 30,000 of them were returned for the same issues my last one was having. I have old 870s that are awesome. Hopefully they can fix the reputation along with the product.
Yes, it is great news indeed. No bigger Remington fan than yours truly, nothing but faultless service from their products and customer service dating back to the early `80s right up to bankruptcy. Having said that, I`m CAUTIOUSLY optimistic. Roundhill ( RemArms ) has no experience in firearms design and manufacture. I would expect a slow and bumpy start requiring patience from the buying public. I believe a lot will be impacted by the degree to which they`ve been able to hire back the craftsmen.
We should all be pulling for them!! Cannot imagine an American firearms scene without a Big Green.
What Remington's that i own , I've never had a problem with them. Glad to see them coming back and building firearms.

On gunbroker i was looking yesterday at the Remington 20 ga. and the new old stock they were asking 500 dollars or more for the same guns that cost 250 dollars back months ago..
I have several 870s, wingmasters, youth 20, police tactical, and never had an issue with them, however, some years back I won an 11/87 3" before the newer 3-1/2" came out. The POA was off by a foot and a half. I sent the barrel to Remmington. They sent it back saying that there was nothing wrong with it. I put a tru- glow gobbler site on it to help with the problem. Later, I had a gunsmith port the barrel and he detected the barrel choke was tapped "crooked" originally from the factory. So I had him-tap it, problem fixed...
I own 3 remington's all from the late 90s. Two 700 BDL .300 WIN MAG a .270 and an 870 12 gauge. No issues with any of them. The rifles are tack drivers and the 12 shoots great patterns. Didn't look at at remington's for a while bought some benellis, tikka, browning's etc. Then I started hearing about the quality control issues in the guns. And have stayed away since then. But I am hopeful that everything works out well for them. I wonder if when the new guns start hitting the market if they will be a little bit lower in price just to get people to come back to Remington

My first Remington was an 1100 bought in `83 for duck hunting in Louisiana salt marshes. That thing got rode hard and put up wet. I`m embarrassed at how I treated it. Just basic wipe downs inside and out. Never...once...failed me. Since, I have an `05 vintage 870 Super Mag turkey gun, `15 870 Express and a `17 V3. All have been absolutely faultless. There have indeed been some quality surface finishing issues with SOME 870 Express runs involving salts in the matte finish that led to surface rusting ( easy to fix with a soap and water wash and a good lubing on the exterior surfaces). Mine was not one of those. It will be fascinating to watch and see what happens with RemArms. Wish them only the best.
I have a lot of Remingtons that never gave a minutes trouble. Somewhere after 2010 there are tons of 870 supermags that should have never got out of the plant. I spoke to their customer service dept and they acknowledge the issues. Before I sent it I did some checking and found stories all over the net about 3 month wait times to get your gun back. I am sure they will be a changed company going forward.
Wishing them the best.
Glad to see them rolling again and getting out of the liberal Northeast. We can't afford to lose any ammo or firearms manufactures. It is my hope that they get back to the Remmy of old.

Where they going?
I love Remingtons. I have two 1100 410 Remingtons that are works of art. Flawless performance, and my Old Bottomland is flawless. Glad to see they are back...
Three guns that I will never part with no matter what are older Remington's. The first is Remington Model 700 BDL in 3006 made in 1976, the second is a Remington 870 Special Purpose Mag in 12GA I purchased in 1996, and the third is a 20 GA wingmaster, I received for Christmas from my dad, back in 1983. I killed my first pheasant with this gun. I have shot everything from Elk to Coyotes with the Rifle and the 870 12GA has taken close to 30 Turkeys. It's good to hear about Big Green getting back on they're feet. I hope Remington can once again produce quality durable guns like the three I have mentioned above.
Back in 1828, Remington setup shop in Ilion, NY. With the advent of the New York Safe Act in 2013 which restricted gun ownership, Remmy moved their production lines to Huntsville, Alabama. They manufacture their ammo in Lonoke, Arkansas from Bridgeport, Conn and their Corporate Office is in Madison, NC. They have been through bankruptcy several times and have been bought and sold by multiple companies. It is my hope they find States that appreciate them, manufacture QUALITY guns and ammo and WE, as a Nation, find ways to turn the tide on Human Mental Stupidity.
This is the same reason the NRA is declaring bankruptcy and moving out of New York to Texas.
I own a sack full of Remingtons. 4 870's. 12, 20, 28, 410. 2 1100's 12 and 20. And one 1187. Haven't had a single problem with any of them. Also own several other brands. Benelli, Winchester, Mossberg. I turkey hunt with an 870. If they made some junk, I never owned it.

I do think that there were those who expected Wingmaster fit and finish out of base priced Express models. There was apparently a run of Express guns that had a surface finish problem, but you don't hear many complaints about 870s failing to go " bang ".

Agreed. All the Express models I have owned went bang. Still do on the ones I still have.
Grab a old 70's-80's Wingmaster and shuck that pump action , slick stuff. Early 90's express isn't as nice. Never paid Wingmaster prices for an express model so never expected it.
Still enjoyed everyone I have owned. Can't say that about some other brands.
I saw Wal Mart had an 870 the other day for $279..started to grab it and build another turkey gun but decided against it.

That's a good buy.
I have nothing but good things to say about the Remington of old, and my father's 870s are wonderful guns that handle like a dream.
I got an 870 Express for Christmas one year, and found the thing would fail to cycle. Oil, clean, rack the pump harder, nothing solved the issue of feed failures or partial extraction. I traded it on a BPS and haven't looked back since, but it Remington came out with an 870 Wingmaster that was equal to the quality of the old days (doubtful), I'd get one in a heartbeat and make it my dedicated turkey gun.

Just curious, what did Remington Customer Service have to say? That`s sounds like a candidate for warranty work if not an out and out gun replacement.

I'll be completely honest - I didn't send it back! Several of the folks I hunted with had bought Expresses with similar issues, so I didn't bother fussing with sending a gun back for warranty across international borders and just cut my losses.

Understood. It might have been interesting to see what they might have said with a phone call and a description of the problem and what what you had done to try to address it. Then again, they might well have just said " Send it in." While I`ve not needed any gun smith work on my Remingtons, I always found them to be very helpful over the phone or on their online chat. Right up to when they went out of business!

Thanks . All I've had are older than that, no problems.
Except maybe one i got used . Turned out that one was a walmart gun and had a rough barrel which patterned poorly and took a lot of polishing to smooth up some. Cycled and shot fine though. May have been from that timeframe? It is gone now. All others have barrels that shine like glass inside.
One thing i would look at if i were to purchase another.
If they can make a shotgun shoot poa-poi with the quality they used to they will be
flooded with orders,i have 8 remingtons and have never had a problem hopefully they will still make my favorite the BDL!!

No where, still in Ilion. The only thing that makes this the "liberal Northeast is NYC and NYC alone. The vast majority of NY, including the Mohawk Valley is red/conservative.

Only partially true. The majority of the Remington lines (870s, 1100s, Versa Max, V3, 700, etc) remained in Ilion, as they should. NY did not cause Remington to file bankruptcy. Ever since DuPont sold Remington, it has been owned by companies that didn't reinvest back into the plant and that is only one of a few reasons. The un- SAFE act also did not cause Remington to move some of the lines to Huntsville.
The vast majority of NY is NOT liberal, as you think. Unfortunately, NYC and its libs have too much control. NY above NYC and that region are as rural/hunting, fishing, etc as it gets. Remington was founded in Ilion and that's where it should remain.

Ilion perhaps is where Remington SHOULD remain, the question is, CAN IT and be successful? Those NYC libs and the state government may make it impossible.
I know that there are some Rem Haters and maybe I have been lucky but I have owned several through various decades and I have had nothing but good things to say about them with the exception of the Versamax which in my opinion was a piece of junk. The day it left my house was the happiest day of my life.
I'd hope Remington makes a come back. Lots of American Hunters have great memories with their Remington's over the years .

I certainly am one of those guys. A Remington Lightweight 20 gauge was my first shotgun, I lucked out my first day in the woods and got a Ruffed Grouse. This is a fond memory, what makes it special is several boxes of shells later, I only harvested a few grouse in my life. Surely humbled me.....I am sure glad turkeys don't operate like those bullets.....

Yep the memories. Remington shotguns have taken geese, ducks, pheasant, chukar, quail, dove, pigeon, rabbit and squirrel in my hands. And of course the wild turkey. Always will be Remington shotguns and rifles in my safe.

When I was growing up in rural Alabama in the late 50`s through the 60`s, when in the field either you were carrying a Remington, the guy next to you was, or you both were. They are a part of Americana, as far as I`m concerned, and a primary reason that I find their situation so sad.
