First turkey

After two seasons and more money than I want to admit on turkey calls I finally got my first turkey last week. We had yet another close call in the morning, but no luck. I went back out in the afternoon and set up above the field where they were feeding. I found a good spot and started softly calling on my Mabry walnut slate. I didn't have to wait long before two heads popped up off to my right. They started circling down hill out of range and I yelped softly on my mouth call and they turned up hill. I didn't wait to see if the second tom was bigger, and took the first shot I was confident would kill. I'm guessing he was a 2 year old. His beard was 6 inches and his spurs 1/2". He wasn't the huge tom we saw that morning, but I couldn't be happier to have my first turkey.
