I have deep-cleaned the bore of my old NEF single shot 10 gauge, 24 inch, threaded-barrel, topped with a Burris FF3. Can't believe I sometimes still deal with that heavy chunk of metal but I like the overall simplicity of loading & cleaning and the short total length in tight blinds and really don't notice the recoil in a hunting situation. I have the following tubes: Kick's GT .700, Primos Jellyhead .690, Trulock nonported .695. Haven't tried HTL shot yet in any tube (not supposed to in Kick's) but my patterns with any of these tubes using Winchester Lead #5 or #6, old Remington Lead #4 or #6 , Federal Lead #4, #5, #6, at 40 yards is just fine but not phenomenal considering the expense of shells and my growing intolerance of lugging it distances on public land. Perhaps the answer is HTL shot (e.g., Federal Heavyweight #7) or just maybe my little Charles Daley 20 gauge Youth pump (can't believe I still haven't shot it yet!) will replace the old 10 this season. Any other recommendations for the old 10 gauge?
