Turkey chair while running and gunning, or just sitting.

A couple of decades ago when I first started turkey hunting I carried a piece of dense foam rubber to sit on. It was definitely easy to carry, but lacked comfort after 15-20 minutes. Fast forward to the last few years and I carry a "ground lounger" I got from Campmor.  I put a black plastic bag under it since your butt can touch the wet ground. It comes with a carrying strap which serves to adjust the height of the chair's back and thus just how straight up you sit in the chair. I also use it for late season deer hunting when it's too cold to sit up in a tree stand. I love it because along about 8 a.m. I usually snooze off and I'm already on the ground, so there's no danger of falling out. By-the-way, a couple of years ago I was fast asleep only to be awakened by the trashing of my Pretty Boy decoy. I came awake enough out of my stupor to drop a nice two year gobbler!

i have the stools and the lounger chairs and many pads, heavy bulky and not enough!!
then i found this chair i love it small, weighs less the a decoy and sets up in 60 seconds and i can sit for 4 hours easy.

I use a Cabelas kickstand vest and love it.  It gives you the portability and speed of just using a butt pad but the comfort and versatility of a chair.  You can lean against a tree with the legs folded up or just reach back and push them out for backing into a bush or downed tree and still have back support.  I highly recommend it.

After very uncomfortable sits against trees this weekend, I think I will be investing in a vest for next season. I did sit in my turkey chair for about 4 hours yesterday and it was pleasant. It will certainly be used during deer season.

I also have rigged a sling on my chair, and carry it around....I am very cautious whether I have time to set it out though... I suppose it gets in the way at times, but I always appreciate it if I make a long sit!!  I don't mind carrying the weight on my back because I don't like to sling my shotgun while walking around....just prefer to have it ready at all times...I'm sure I'll get in trouble trying to take the time to set my chair up one day....I take the trade off though because I don't notice it if I'm making haste towards a gobbling bird, it is the long sit and waits that killed me!  The seat makes those a little easier.

For running and gunning, I use the http://www.nifftseat.com/ A gobble lounger is more comfy, but I can not see dragging that along with me on a run and gun expedition. This Niff T Seat can be tossed in the back of your vest OR clipped to your belt. It is very compact.

It can be configured to be 4 different levels in no time. Pretty comfy. I can sit for a good long time without moving or adjusting. What is even better about it is that you can swivel OR turn 360 degrees in it. Moving to adjust for a shot behind you or to one side is very very easy & you don't make all sorts of extra movements to get to where you need to be. That is likely the best thing about it. I use it for Coyote hunting, and you have to very still to hunt them also.

If I figure I will do more sitting than moving I carry my old Buckwing turkey stool. It does help make sitting over long periods more comfortable. If I think I will be moving alot I leave it at home and use my HS Strut pad. It is not as comfortable but better than nothing and it does not get in the way when moving.

Another plus for the Primos or Browning Strutter chair. Been using this style for quite a few years now, can't beat the comfort. HATE the seat cushions that come with your vest!!! After only a couple of hours my tailbone kills me!!!!

No chair for me. Use a super elite 3 vest and use the seat cushion. I like to be able to move silently and sometimes quickly. If I am moving and calling I can cover a lot of ground and it isn't flat around here. A chair is just to bulky and noisy.

I use the same seat had mine nearly 20yrs. now and its still holding up just fine.

I use the pad that came with my vest. If I'm sitting it's because I have one coming to the call. My vest weighs too much with all the stuff I carry so I don't need any anything else to carry!

As I get older, comfort takes more of a priority... LOL

I've used the short HS stool / cushion combo, and it's "ok". I saw here on OG (somewhere) a recommendation for the "Hammock Seat". I'd be interested to read reviews of folks that used one? Looks lightweight, pack-able, and comfortable?
