Thanks Itprod...Makes me feel a little more confident about it...Spurcollecta...No, the state of N.J. has decided that the U.S. Constitution doesn't fully apply here. We're not allowed pistol grips or retractable stocks or flash hiders...Go down the list. If it's black and semi, it's suspect and dangerous...  ::)

Might be a spring issue. Or is the shell getting lodged in the barrel?

Man that sucks not being able to have pistol grips and adjustable stocks! The reason I asked is because my best buddy has and sbe2 and he was fighting with ejection issues and we ended up tracing it back to him adding the pistol grip. He put his old stock back on and hasn't had any problems since then. If I were you I'd start with the springs

Shell not getting lodged in the barrel. It gets stovepiped (caught between the chamber and the bolt). Hoping it is a spring issue. That's a relatively easy fix.

Received the Wolf recoil spring and installed it (remarkable how easy that was)...Haven't shot yet but, MAN, what a difference in the bolt closing strength! That thing SLAMS with authority now! Wouldn't want to get my fingers in it before, but now...Can we say 4 fingered sixbird???!!!

Ouch is right man...Sixbird making mental note...Keep fingers away from bolt... :o

WV Ridge Reaper

Just wanted to add that I went ahead and replaced the recoil spring in my M2 for as cheap as they are why not....The bolt closes with authority..As six bird said you do not want to get your finger caught in it.

How does the pattern hold together out past 40 on these shells?

sixbird

Out to 40, it's remarkable! My pattern diameter at 40 with 3" #5's was around 14". Meaning the main part of the pattern was in that dia. The entire pattern save a few flyers was in a 24" circle. I'm shooting An SBE II that has had the forcing cone lengthened and polished and I'm shooting a .670 DND Haymaker and a Rob Roberts .655 (both patterned well).
Past 40 is pretty much Irrelevant to me since the Longbeards are lead and I don't believe that lead has sufficient energy past 40 to reliably kill a gobbler. So the answer to beyond 40...I don't know. I would imagine pattern density would be sufficient at maybe 50, but I'm just guessing and I wouldn't recommend shooting out that far with lead (not even with Hevi, for that matter)...I've been on the search for wounded birds. That's not a good feeling...
