First off that's a dead turkey!  It's hard to see the entire pattern on a small piece of paper....looks like the main pattern might be just a bit low right to me.

That would kill one, but I would want a little denser more even pattern. Do what hook said with a bigger piece of paper.

Forget to  add choke, IC .665, I did shoot this target on a 3'X5' piece of paper, will post it in a day....

If you can, I would keep testing combinations.

I myself, would not be happy with that pattern, but it will certainly do the job for the most part...

Guys we are looking at a small target here. 8 x 11 so its really not to bad for #5 lead.

I agree with everyone. Forget the turkey head target and shoot at a big piece of paper.

That is a horrible pattern for #5 shot Longbeards, I just patterned my SX3 and it was so tight I will not hunt with The longbeards and I am not going to buy a more open choke right now.  I don't want to hurt his feelings but he might be over choked, I use a .665 choke.  In any event he needs to do a lot more shooting with those longbeards.  I'm not doubting that it would be a dead turkey but it leaves a lot to be desired.  The longbeards are capable of more than that.  Maybe it is something as simple as adjusting POA and POI.

I agree with the others, I would keep looking. Looks like about 135/10 to me. Most guys are getting 150-180 with those shells in 5s. A year ago that would have been a fantastic pattern with lead 5s, but the LBs will do better. But I will admit, that is a very dead turkey.

That is a dead turkey, and the pattern will work fine at 40y.  If you want higher numbers, I'd swap the 655 for the 665.  But then you may be too tight at closer ranges, as some people are complaining about the LBs.

Aren't BPS shotguns considered "over bored"?  You might do even better with a more open choke.

I have a SX3 and use a .665 choke, with winchester longbeard's & #5 shot, at 40 yards it is so tight you could miss a bird.  I look at the pattern on paper and it is something to see.  I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but it makes that pattern look sick.  My barrel is backbored too, it came with a .655 choke for turkey, after I patterned LB with a .665 choke I wouldn't pattern the .655 choke.  I don't doubt it would be a dead bird but the pattern could be better.  If I were you I would try the choke you have with longbeards I think it would impress you even though I think a .665 choke would be better if you are looking for a tight pattern and high numbers.

Not hurting my feelings. Just looking for help and answers. I am shooting WLB #5s, 3" out of a IC .655  I went back to the range yesterday and tried a Briley super straight .665. No better. Than I shot the browning full turkey that came with the gun, not as patchy but less holes in the 10"ring. I do not know the specs on that choke.
