Question:  What would you give up or do to have all of turkey season off work???   Just curious!  I love to turkey hunt so much I dream about it and obsess about it while I am at work.  I have to get on google earth a few times a day to scout my hunting locations!  lol   While my boss does work great with me I still have to work most of turkey season.  Someday I hope to have 2 months to do nothing but hunt turkeys from south to north across our great country!

Starting next year I plan to. I will lose money until I tag out and then go back to work. I hope to tag out in two weeks. My boss is real flexible with us hunters. One guy takes off all deer season and I am getting all turkey season. He doesn't eve make us burn vacation if we want to take it off with out pay.

I do have all of turkey season off!! What I gave up in return for it was my free time before and after turkey season.
I am a firefighter and we are allowed to trade work days. The up side is that I got turkey season off, the down side is that I worked a bunch extra before turkey season, and will have to work extra a lot more after I return to work. Was it worth it? Hellz yeah!!

I get to hunt a lot, so I won't really complain about the days I have to work, but I have a friend who told me yesterday that he won't be able to turkey hunt this year.  He is going to be out of state for the next 3 yrs working, but he will be able to deer hunt in the fall.  I said, that stinks, but at least you can deer hunt still.  He said, he really doesn't care if he turkeys hunts as he has shot his share and he is over it now and wants to fish now.    I too really enjoy fishing, but to be over turkey hunting...I couldn't belive he actually said that, so kind of the opposite.

I couldn't afford to take off all of turkey season so that's out. Particularly since Kansas is almost two months long. I do have a very understanding family. I always take off a solid week for a long trip with my buddies and then spend at least one week vacation with them. Plus I can take a day or two here and there and spend almost every weekend hunting. they are very cool to put up with this.

I'm pretty fortunate , I work for an oil co and can take a few days here and there. The bad part is turkey season is generally when all our work gets busy. Last Tuesday they put me on stand by , which means as long as I can be back on location in 24 hrs I can go anywhere I want with pay ! I got 6 hrs into my trip to Kansas and got called back 
O well next week I will be in the black hills chasing birds for a couple of days

Being a firefighter I get 12 shifts(we work 24 on 48 off) paid vacation which is close to a month and 1/2 but we can timeswap so it would be possible to be off almost 2 straight months. I usually just spread it out so I can have the whole 3 1/2 months off with me working here and there between trips. With Florida opening in mid march and some northern states closing May 31st I can hunt where ever.

Im retired so I get to hunt when and where I can afford to.Last few years that has been in Michigan only.But thats better than nuthin.

I retired in 2004 and, for the next two spring seasons, hunted several states. One spring I hunted OK (3 birds), KS (2 birds), MO (2 birds), WV (2 birds), NY (2 birds) and PA (2 birds). Another year I hunted KS (2 birds), SD (2 birds), MO (2 birds), NY (2 birds) and PA (2 birds). Quite frankly, as much as I enjoy turkey hunting, it was just too much. I haven't hunted that many states since and enjoy it more. Both last spring, and this one, I'm hunting just NY (home state) and PA. Next year I'm planning to go out west again but will hunt just KS and MO, then back here for NY and PA. I'm pretty much a loner and it got kind of lonely even for me! The year I hunted SD, I took the wife and camper. It was much more fun because we did the "sight-seeing/vacationing" thing along with my turkey hunting. The states where I could have hunted all day (KS, SD), I didn't because we were off doing other stuff.

I would find a job that would allow me to. I figure I have one life and I want to live it the way i want. I'm self employed and work at UPS. We can only hunt till 12 mostly in Va and I work in the evenings at UPS. I turn a lot of work down every spring and miss out on thousands of dollars but its worth it to me. As long as theres food on the table, bills are paid, money put back for retirement, and not living week to week I'm happy.

I work shift work and have 160 hrs of vacation accumulated each spring. I made 5 states last year, TX, LA, MO, KS, NE, and AR last year. Hunted 27 mornings in a row then 5 more mornings the end of May in NE. This year I dropped MO and TX but am leaving Thursday when I work off for NE.  Will be my son's first out of state trip, I can't wait.

I'm an account specialist, whatever that is .  It's my understanding that part of my job is to entertain customers.  And some of my customers find my turkey hunting entertaining.  So with that logic, part of my job is to turkey hunt, and I don't want to get fired so I do my job to the best of my ability.  I even work weekends in the spring.   The only thing better than turkey hunting is getting paid to turkey hunt.

It is. I still have the honey do list but I can live with that.
