Anybody done any scouting yet?  Also post up when your season starts.

There are no turkeys in Alabama. I keep telling y'all, but some peacocks or other birds were attempting simulate a gobbler in January
Official "Hippie" had my hip replaced August 2005

You just hide and watch and I'll go find the turks

Seen a few in the past couple of weeks hog hunting.  Been looking for some secluded public areas that are only accessible by boat and I'm banking on there being enough water to get there.  I should be all by my lonesome.

good luck on there being enough water

No kidding!  You know where I've been going.....
Do you have permission to hunt that private land by your duck pond?

Took this pic this morning. How's that for a scouting report??? ;)

SC opens March 15th, central FLA's is March 17th. I'm probably doing both.

Rut, you get drawn for anything down here?  I got nada.  So I'll be hitting the swamps during the week before if you want to hook up.  I'll be on spring break and Mike will be working.

Yeah, I got a Spec Ops hunt. Should be good. Most of my time will be spent up in SC. Possibility of trips to Georgia and Virginia as well. Could be a banner year if all goes well!! :icon_thumright:
I'll have to get with ya if I have the time. Most of my time off is during the season. Doing a lot of work right before and right after the season. Gotta pay back the trades from the guys who worked for me while I was off. I'm saving my annual leave to sell back when I go into DROP on June 1st.
I've been wanting to get over there and hunt with you and Mike for a couple of years now.

By your lonesome...I think not. Them birds are gonna need :OGturkeyhead: to save their skins.

Today was Alabama's youth duck season and all though no ducks hit the water we did hear two toms fire off at an owl.

I have permission to turkey hunt in there, but so does every other turkey hunter that he knows.  It gets pretty crowded in there during turkey season.

When checked out our second lease yesterday and saw some sign. However we did see some loggers in there doing some thinning, which is fine of they get out of there before turkey season.

Stopped by my favorite field that I can't hunt this morning. Had a couple of gobblers following a couple of hens. They were on the far side of the field and had just come out of the woods. The big gobbler was shock gobbling and gobbling to the hens yelping. I got out my diaphragm, and started yelping and cutting. He loved it!! He was hammering out the gobbles!! :gobble: :gobble: :gobble: :icon_thumright:
But, as often happens, the boss hen didn't like my yelping whatsoever. She led the boys back into the woods. Here's some of the better pics. They aren't the best quality because I was at the extreme range of my zoom. It was still an awesome morning. Seeing that strutter and having him gobble repeatedly at my calls. Man, I am so ready for this season to start!!! :you_rock:
