Just bought a new Xtremma 2 w/ kickoff for $899, but now I need a turkey choke for it. What are some choke/shell combinations some of you have been using and what kind of pellet count are you getting? Thanks guys!!

SumToy

It should show out with a 650 rang or 670 to 675  with HV 13 7's.
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

First of all, congratulations on a great gun. There are a number of chokes that should work successfully with that gun. Maybe the most important choice is the shotshell.

I'd recommend that you consider the 3" Hevi-13 "Bronze" shell with 2 oz. of either #6 or #7 shot. Either will work well and provide killing patterns out to and including 40 yards. (Your gun of course will chamber and fire the 3.5" shells but the 3" work exceptionally well and allow you to get back on target much more quickly, should you need to do that.) The number will depend of course on which shot size you choose but frankly, at least to me, a good even pattern is much more important than the number.

The brand of choke and exit diameter can be the subject of pretty much endless debate. With that gun, I've had success with a variety of choke tubes. Most chokes today are rated for tungsten based shot, so that's much less of a problem than in years past.

Here are some that have worked well for me. The Hevi-13 Turkey Choke .671, the SSX .643, the Wright's .660, Pure Gold .670 and Strangler .664.

All of those chokes have different "internals" but all produce very good patterns with the Hevi-13 shotshells.

As has already been stated, a variety of exit diameters will work, it's more about the internal geometry and the shotshell than anything else. There are lots of good chokes out there today.

Thanks,
Clark

I have an extrema 1 and I have a Sumtoy .665 in and get in the 240's @ a lasered 40 yrds. with hevi 13  3 1/2in.  2 1/4 oz. #6

I have an older Xtrema with a 26" barrel. The best combo I found is the Hevishot .671 choke running Hevi 13 2.25 oz #7's. I haven't tried a Sumtoy in that gun but have shot two different Trulock chokes , a Pure Gold, and multiple Indian Creek chokes. The Trulock would be second on my list, ahead of PG and IC. Don't worry about the recoil with 3.5" 2.25 oz loads in that gun. The original Xtrema is pleasant to shoot with heavy loads and the recoil on it is worse than the one you have.

All the Hevi-Shot chokes I have found are in a .664 for an Optima Plus.... Does anyone know where I can get a .671 for an Optima Plus? Thanks!
