Where And When Do You Practice Calling?

I've gotta bring my calls in the truck with me to practice on the ride to work.

I have a wonderful bird crazy Llewellin Setter that goes NUTZ at hen yelps. He jumps and screams and barks so I can't be around him. I also have a lovely wife who adores me but she just can't take it for too long!

Who do you drive crazy and where are you ostracized to?

I practice in my truck on my commutes and at home/ in the yard. I practice daily, typically a trumpet or my mouth calls.

Our deer season ends the 1st of January and my attention turns to turkeys immediately.  For 3 and a 1/2 months, until our opener, I will practice every day with pots, mouth calls and boxes.  I utilize YouTube videos of LIVE turkeys to emulate and fine tune my calling.  My wife is very understanding during this time, God Bless Her, but with our warmer weather starting, the neighbors get an ear full as well.  The truck is my other option though.  By the way for those of you that have Grandkids, they love to try and figure out how Papa gets the sounds out of these crazy contraptions, so spend some time with them and show them.

In my truck or in my man cave room.  Sometimes outside to see how it sounds out there.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

Happy

Whenever I want to. No one at my house can complain because I pay the bills.

Typically not until traveling to hunt, which is not a great idea as it takes awhile to get into the groove, with mouth calls anyways!

Dougas

Sitting in my computer chair looking out of the full glass front door talking to the girls putting, cutting and yelping on the otherside of the door. We have conversations almost daily.

At home in the office, when the rest of the family is gone...  Drives the dog bonkers...

Mouth calls in the vehicle on the way to work, or on the way to hunt.

I generally take out the friction call once before the season, chalk them up, make sure they sound OK, and keep them in the vest after that.

I practice far more on my mouth calls...  I will be taking mine out of the fridge, and deciding which ones will be replaced this weekend.

I do not like hearing someone practice on calling, and I hunt.  Not going to put my family through that.

I do...  Sometimes go to my non-hunting friends house with a mouth call in, make turkey sounds, and pretend I do not know where it is coming from though... :goofball:
Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.

In the truck coming back and forth from work. Diaphragm calls.

When the Boss Hen heads to the grocery store is when I head to the den with a box of Turkey Toys. I can spread 'em out on the sofa and have at it! I practice on the front porch too for the definite difference in sound. Hard to describe the looks I get especially when the azaleas get a little too high for the neighborhood walkers to see me.

X2 as well.  When the Hen is away, the Gobbler will PLAY.  I love the looks I get as well from the neighbors.

Thanks for all the great responses.

Wish there was a like button here. Someone liked a post of mine though, do some accounts have that option?

I play calls year round, keep some by my chair at all times. My wife doesn't complain about it because she likes to eat fried wild turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits

I usually pick up my pots in February. My garage is my play room where I do my prep. When it warms up, I'll go outside in my back yard. The sound is much better outside when not bouncing off the walls.
