Where And When Do You Practice Calling?

Cut N Run

I practice in the truck, at the state park, and only in the house when the wife's gone.  If I started calling when she was there, I'd be a single man by now.  There just must be something in the female DNA that when the call hits a sweet tone, you may as well be running fingernails down a chalkboard.  I groove on it & she's not having it.

Luck counts, good or bad.

Gooserbat

Living room usually between 12:00 and 1:30 am
Nothing like seeing a kids eyes light up upon hearing that first gobble.

Tom Threetoes

I used to practice on the back porch but apparently one of the neighbors didn't like it very well and screamed for me to knock it off! Now I do it indoors LOL.

Turkeybutt

Typically on weekends anytime I want or need some alone time since my wife can't stand it and goes shopping or something.
During the week everyday since I'm retired and she works.
I always have something with me so if my doctors or dentist appointment is running late or I'm waiting for my vehicle at the dealers I'll step out and play with a call.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, tired, beat, thoroughly used up and totally worn out from chasing turkeys and loudly proclaiming; "WOW -- What a Ride!"

deathfoot

Usually first day of the season. I don't do mouth calls and I've been running slates and boxes for 33 years. I will run a few times on a new call just to check it out before hitting the woods on day 1. And usually on day one of my turkey season when I hit that slate, I'm like, yea, should have practiced a bit in the truck before coming out. But it comes right back to me lol

hpo

Great place to practice is in the airport traveling to a hunt. Pop in a mouth call and when no one is looking, do a few purrs, cuts, and yelps. Me and my buds do this on the regular-just to F with people.
Shoot'em in the Face!

:toothy12:  Fun stuff...

I often go to my non-hunting friends' houses with a mouth call in.  Randomly make turkey noises...  Have confused some people, & REALLY UPSET some dogs in those houses... :goofball:
Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.

Sixes

50 percent of the time I am by myself at work, so I keep calls there, all my trumpets are at work and a few pot calls.  Mouth calls are usually in my truck

I really hope you are a psychologist, and you do this during therapy sessions with patients.... ;D

Well yes and no.  Not a psychologist but we do have a large number of actual patients of the feathered variety. Before we could hunt there, I use to talk to them quite often in their world, but now, since I can hunt the property, I practice inside because I don't want to give them too much info.

ferocious calls

Mostly while tuning boxes. Called up a flock of 4 jakes and another of 7 hens this morning while tuning. 2 of the jakes bred one of my hens. No kidding.
