Got a nice one today in Long Islands first ever turkey season. We have a huge and growing number of birds and I was fortunate enough this morning to tag this one. 10" beard and 1 1/4" spurs.

How much area is in long island for hunting
More than most people think. The eastern part of the island is still lots of farm land and a very good amount of public land. We have an excellent deer population and many good bucks come from here also. We can pretty much kill a doe a day and a few bucks during the long 10/1-1/31 deer season.

Congrats, didn't know you guys didn't have a season. Just assumed with all the state parks on Long Island there were a place to go.

Great bird, with a nice photo capture of the event!
Did I do that?

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
