Not how I wanted the season to start out, makes walking harder for me than normally is and makes me worry about bringing in my camera gear which I have been looking forward to.

My main concern is falling to be perfectly honest, I am going to have to use my trekking poles in and out because I do not do the greatest in mud. I would much rather have snow to be honest with you.

Yuck.  Hopefully, they will be small and intermittent showers

I hope so. As much as I worry about getting hurt while falling I am more worried about the camera gear.

Slow and steady.   Good luck!
Yes will have to be. I have to go this weekend and trim a branch and drop off the tripod and a gallon of water so I will see what things are looking like. Would have done it last weekend but started to thunderstorm and I may not be the sharpest tool in the tool shed but I am far from the dullest!

I'm hunting southern NY. The weather looked real bad for the past week, but it now changed. Partly cloudy, 10-15 mph winds. I hope this is true, I'll deal with that for sure....

I might just leave my camera stuff at home and enjoy the start of the season myself. I know that stuff adds up in cost. But anyways the best of luck, hope you get one in your first 15 min and head home for a hot cup of coffee and donuts. (3 word game) LOL

I am honestly where I think I would rather get one with the camera. My body, legs, hands make it hard to clean them and all. (Perhaps if I had done more than just the one and could do it better that might change) By the way, I can't have donuts and don't much care for coffee. I thank you for the thought anyway. By the way, that does not mean I am opposed to shooting one, but every time I am out there and I am pulled up on one I have to consider my pain levels and if I am up to getting one out that day. I would rather walk out with a picture than nothing at all.

Steve, the moment you have that gobbler in range your pain level will cease as the adrenaline will take over, trust me and take the shot and get your gobbler flopping on the ground... The accomplishment of all your hard work and practicing has all come together in that moment of joy.. nothing like it ... IMO

I know bud, but it is the taking it out that is where I hurt and cleaning after. I found I got just as stoked and excited last year photographing them as I did drawing up on one. I had so many chances last year and simply did not take one. When I had my accident and thought I would never hunt turkey again I begged God to let me get just one, he did and I am fine if I never get another, I truly am. I want to get some good pictures, maybe sell a few, get better gear and take more pictures. If that copper from last year shows up and I am not hurting I will take him for sure, other than that who knows.

So do I bud, but I live alone and it goes a long way.
