Not trying to flame you so please don't take it that way.....
From a safety standpoint only....how did everybody miss this ?

I know the pics may magnify it a bit, but that wear looks pretty noticeable, just don't understand how it made it past that many people......

Yeah, unless you're looking specifically at the sling area there was no other sign anywhere, plus it being camo hid it. You'd probably have missed it too  They brought it out to me and it was in a taped box disassembled in the benelli box so we were talking while he assembled it and broke it back down.   I didn't look too hard at the magazine cap...but I agree from a safety standpoint it's worrisome.

You sure the gun owner ain't just trying to cover his A$$. A take one in on trade and passing it off as new sounds more logical. Maybe thats not the story, but you'll probably never know at least you got out of a bad deal and got a life long learning experience out of it.

You're right, never know. The owner is 100% standup guy and I think he's pretty concerned this happened. Small town gun shop where everybody knows everybody, to do that would be BAD business.  I'm betting on an employee who wasn't paying attention at some point. And you're right, I'll never buy another gun without telling this story to the seller.

Call your local Leo's and see if someone will run the serial for you. They should be able to tell if it was previously registered.

No they cant tell you that.

Can't, won't, or shouldn't? I had a local popo run my name or plates to get my cell number so he could call and ask if I had found his head lamp he lost while hunting.

That is illegal, lots of police officers have been fired for running plates to get personal info, just saying.

If I had realized how he got the info at the time, I would have had a talk with his PD. I couldn't have told you his name 15 minutes later though.

Yeah, I understand. My buddy who is a LEO, used to run my daughter's boyfriends for me before all this carp happened, now I have to dislike them for no reason. LOL

Cut N Run

Glad to hear the shop owner made this right.  Good for you for bringing it to everybody's attention.

I'll be interested to hear how you like the SBE 3.  I also hope you get to break it in right this Spring.
