I would never intentionally shoot more than a single bird at a time in most cases. I'm not a "body count" sort of guy. However, as others have suggested, if I was on a short, out-of-state hunt, and if I could not get the birds to separate far enough to kill just one of them, and if I thought I would likely not get another chance to kill a bird, and if they were about to leave, and if it was legal,....and even then I would wait until the last possible second for them to separate before settling on having to shoot more than one.
