Turkey Hunting and Gas Question?

 I budget my life around turkey hunting.

Gas is typically the least of my concern when planning trips. This year it was certainly a bigger budgeting factor, but it didn't slow me down any. I hunted 7 states and would have done the same if gas was $10 a gallon.

Gas prices won't stop me. I budget ahead for the upcoming year.. Each week I put in 20 or 30 dollars in the gas fund.  If can shoot $15.00 shells I'll pay the price for gas to do what I enjoy.

It definitely effected me. Budget talks are great but I've only got so much I can budget and family comes first. Luckily I still got to go a pretty good bit. I usually drive about an hour. It would be nice to have something that gets more than 11mpg.

I needed a new truck 2 years ago when my trusty Avalanche finally bit the dust with 300k on the
odometer. I decided my next truck needed to get better mileage than the 16mpg I was getting,
especially considering I have a 50 mile daily round trip commute for work. I decided to try out
a midsize truck this time around. I average around 25 mpg in the summer months, dropping to 22
in the winter. This is mostly all highway and rural state route driving with little stop and go traffic.
Big difference going from 16 to 25 mpg! Now i don't like the small bed, so I will probably go to a
longer bed when I get rid of this one. I actually liked the smaller size truck after a lifetime of f150's
and 250's and driving 18 wheelers for a living. But this particular truck has been an endless warranty
issue generator, so I am probably going with a different make next time around.

I only have one spot so no matter what I am traveling half an hour to get there or more, less in the daylight as I do not see well at night.

Gas prices will only alter my normal turkey hunting routine in one aspect. I usually do quite a bit of riding around in the areas I hunt during non-hunting hours. I'll probably do less of that.

Shouldn't effect my hunting. I'll cut back on other things, but my turkey hunting is not one of them.
