Based on the last few comments about baiting and the spread of poultry diseases and toxins in wild bird populations, the fact is that this issue was brought up many years ago. What I do not understand is, if there is a significant concern regarding this, why are we not hearing an uproar from wildlife biologists about it?

You would think there would be a movement about to have some sort of FDA inspection process for commercial feeds to ensure against contamination (maybe there is).  The same with the poultry industry and the concern about the spread of poultry diseases through various contamination possibilities.

My guess is that in today's world of trying to feed the masses, the concerns about the impacts of disease spread and toxin contamination in wild bird and game populations is probably pretty far down the list in terms of priorities.  I have a feeling when it comes to weighing the impacts of food production for our burgeoning human population against worrying about the impacts that has on wild turkeys, that wild turkeys (and a lot of other wildlife species) are going to be the losers in that equation.

I guess you should just double down and buy some deer corn from a poultry farm or dairy farm and spread it in your favorite turkey woods and test it for yourself ;D I'd walk through some chicken poop while I was there too.

Before you dirty your pantys and get them all bunched up....I am being sarcastic of course.
No offense taken,Eggshell. I am a WVU fan. That automatically means i am used to abuse.

I think that as Gnut speculates, it does all really boil down to money. I know Greg had kinda alluded to that when we discussing regulations in the thread that went bye-bye.
It's a good point. Commercial farm is a huge industry, and getting more "environmentally friendly" materials and methods will be a huge fight. I think for most of us, it matters, but we are a minority in the grand scheme of things.
