Quote from: joey46 on March 02, 2025, 01:35:40 PMYou e bikers can be so sensitive.  Lol  :funnyturkey:
Don't you own one?

Never have never will.  Consider them the same as jet-skis buzzing by when in the kayak on a no wake waterway.
To repeat - the lack of true "walk in" public areas anymore is appalling.
Well your comments in post #19 sure made it seem like you did.  Thus the confusion.

With you being from FL, I can't imagine how you react to a swamp buggy or air boat.

Yes it did.  Should have read "encounters with e bikes".   Now corrected.

Add to any future comments on this issue - the lack of any true "walk in" public land areas is appalling.

Thanks you guys made me go buy one today! private land only! just to get there faster. We have to sign out for a area at the lease before we leave so not blowing past anyone and own a private spot that will help me get there faster!

Pizz on the agency's that allow them on public ground. What's next is a real question where is the line drawn?

I have witnessed the use off trail where not permitted that ruined a youth hunt. That is not the only time I have seen them used in a manner that was not permitted.

Of course you did. To steal words from a Bob Dylan song "everything's legal as long as you don't get caught".

First, I've never used my bike on public land because it's not legal to do so here.

Second, said 2000 acre piece is private. You shouldn't take issue with how I get around on the place. My bike is much more quiet than others who use 4 wheelers or SxS's. With that said, I still walk way farther than most do to get to a turkey. Keep lumping me in with the people who lay theirs down next to their box stand if you want, but that ain't me. You don't know me, so you wouldn't know that.
You asked a general question of "would you walk in on 2000 acres"

I answered your question.

No part of anything I said in response to you, had any public vs private, 4 wheeler bs SxS, or box stand discussions in it!

I had a two part post, the second part was answering your question. The first part an overall general Statement.

I also don't need to know you or how you hunt to see 2000 acres is enough land that you need to ride around on, YOU said it is. But, idc how you get around it, just don't used 2000 acres as the excuse unless it's 200 yards wide and 10 miles long.

I will walk 10-12 miles some days. When I can e bike I'll ebike if it's over a mile or so. For the time savings alone.

And nothing wrong with it

You didn't have to drum up some acreage reason! You simply do it because you want, can, and feel like it.

I didn't ask you anything. My response was a direct reply to Joey, as noted by his post that I quoted.

You named me directly and implied I was lazy for not walking in. I just have more sense than to park at the main gate and walk in while others are passing me in trucks or on 4 wheelers/SxS's. But again, you commented without knowing about me and my situation.

At this point, we've beat this horse to death and just don't see eye to eye on the topic. Good luck this Spring!

E bikes aren't the problem, ignorant humans are, ridiculous amount of them ignoring walk in only places in my experience.

I've considered one but I tend to hunt where they aren't supposed to be used!

It's the user not the E-bike.

BTW - I'm 78.  I walk in .

With all due respect, it's not a great idea to paint with a broad brush.

I don't think many would consider someone who lost a limb defending this country or someone with genetic traits that leave them physically disadvantaged, "lazy".

the overwhelming majority of people I've seen using e-bikes here at home...were not old ,and not handicapped, and almost exclusively used illegally in places they were not supposed to .... Now. I don't really care . There's places I'd love to have one , and I may one day.... But I hate seeing posts defending technology and using veterans and handicapped folks as a crutch......that ain't the folks buying e-bikes

I would very much like to get a trike, I can no longer right a bike and to be honest I am not sure I can ride a trike either, not with a standard seat anyway, my tailbone is much to sensitive since my car accident. If I could and one would help me get back further than yes I would ride one. It would also be nice at some of these parks for taking out my photography gear.

Since I am notorious for following these e bike threads I recommend you search through old time bass fisherman Roland Martin's numerous YouTube videos.  He both hunts and bank fishes on an e-trike.  He does detailed descriptions from a dealer's showroom and even hints that he knows a few loopholes that allows him to cruise and hunt from his in Florida.  He did take a public land bird in the Bear Island section of Big Cypress opening day.  Whether or not he took it from his e-trike was not mentioned on his weekly Friday updates.  His e-trike looks very pricey but it seems like something perfect for someone with your health problems.  Good luck staying in the game.  BTW - I think Roland is 83 or 84 years old.

Gooserbat

You realize that for around 1200-1400 you can put together a purpose built ebike that's mid-drive by buying the parts and spending 4-6 hours putting it together.
