Just curious what percent of your calls are custom made calls and is there a mass produced call that you can't leave at home ?
Like most guy's on here, most of my calls are custom, I'd say 95% of the them. I've given most of the mass produced calls I had away to new hunters. Seems like I have better success with a custom call.
But I have a old (mid 90's) Quaker Boy Grand Old Master box call that will always have a place in my vest. When all else fails, I've had good luck pulling it out.
Id say 80-90% at this point.
99.99999%
The only calls that i have that aren't custom made are my mouth calls.
100
95%. I have one Primos box cutter, and all my mouth calls are Hooks. Everything else is custom.
99%
I would say 90%. And probably 100% from today on.
99%, I sometimes use a HS Strutt, Two Timer mouth call. The rest of my collection is custom made.
Almost everything. Gooserbat diaphragms, slate and glass.
I have a Cody Envy glass that I love, too.
My box is a Redhead but it screams!
Everything but my locators.

:agreed:
And I only carry one mouth call anymore, a Primos stacked frame. Even the locator calls are custom.
I WOULD SAY 95% AS I HAVE SEVERAL OLD COLLECTIBLE LYNCH CALLS BUT OUT OF 75-100 CALLS MOST ARE CUSTOM MADE
about 50 right now. It will go up.
I'm fairly new to this, so help me out. What would be considered custom? I started out about five years ago and thought my Woodhaven slate would be considered custom. I have since added a Roberts Brothers and a couple of calls I had to order from the maker.
75 percent. I'll only buy custom pot calls from now on.
I'd say 99.9999%.

x2 but that may change after Nashville this year.
Wow! looks like Im behind the curve. 0% right now.Is this why I have a hard time calling in a bird? Seems like ifI do its just the right place at the right time.I have a Cody pot call that is my "go to" and several others, but dont use that much.
100%. all bought right here from the great call makers on this forum. No brainer
:bike2:
Everything except for one cheap plastic crow call that's still in my vest. All my mass produced calls were given away to various people that I introduced to turkey hunting. I would have kept the HS Strut Triple Glass that I used to call in my first spring bird if I hadn't sat on it and broken the glass one day while hunting.
I must be missing out. I don't have a single custom call. However, I will not leave the Freak at home.

Nah, you're not behind...just evolving...hang around here long enough and you'll get bit by the bug. :icon_thumright:
Not having custom calls in your vest isn't why you're having a hard time killing birds, and yes, being in the right place at the right time has a lot to do with it (think about that...) and that Cody pot will kill birds. :icon_thumright:
70%
0% right now. I would like to make pot calls for myself someday.

I only use custom pot calls now. It is a lot more fun, much like playing a fine instrument that you know was hand crafted. My box call is one of the nicer production models, but someday I will add a custom box too.
100%.
90% for me. Truth is I have a 20 yr. old" grand old master" that is my go to call though!
Probably 90% for me. Once I get a custom slate to replace my mass production one I'll give that away. Then I'll be just left with a Lynch box as my only non custom.
Around 90+ percent I have a MAD heavy metal that has brought a lot of birds in and my diaphragms are all production! Everything else from strikers, pots, box and scratch boxes are all custom. Not knocking the big companies that sell them but I prefer a custom call. Many years ago all I had was mass production and I still killed birds.
