First I want to thank everyone for all the great advice the last couple of weeks. Our season started yesterday and I really didn't know what to expect. I only heard one yesterday thank God so that wasn't an issue. I had 10 hens come in to my calling first, guess I was calling wrong. Anyway it was still pretty cool because two of the hens had snoods, one about 8" long and the other about 6" long. The were all in one big group. After they left I moved and heard the gobbler again. I figured I'd call different so I wouldn't call up those hens again and it worked. I shot him in the head!
This morning I went to a different spot some 20 miles from the first spot. I heard about six :o I freaked at first running around in circles, then I remembered some of the advice I had gotten. I called but no luck, all they would do was gobble. I tried for a long time and got discouraged and got up and walked away from all of them. I found a nice comfortable looking spot and thought I'd take a nap. But I called first like I did yesterday when the hens came in. I heard one make a noise back at me so I relied on more advice I had received. I kicked the leaves and clucked and purred like a cat. Before long I saw five hens moving in front of me. Couldn't take a nap now, so I watched them as they got closer and closer, again no boy turkey's with them :-\ I kept playing with them and after about 10 minutes I see more movement from where the hens came from. I remembered someone said a gobblers head would be red and I was now looking at five red heads. They came single file right to me. The third one had a thick looking snood and I wanted to shoot him but he was still a bit to far. The first one stopped and looked at me like he new something wasn't right so I shot him in the face. I went to him and he had three of those hairy things sticking out of his chest, I think I saw where ya'll call them snoods. So two days and two birds, and one with three snoods totaling 23 1/4 inches. Thanks again for all the advice :icon_thumright:, without the advice I received here I probably would have run around in circles this morning until I passed out.

From what I've seen the first two days their all gay. The girls hang out with the girls and boys hang with the nboys. I'm pretty sure those hens with snoods the first day were gay for sure.
Your one SNOOD dude bro. :icon_thumright:

I think they call that four-skins which don't make sense to me because theres only one of them. I think snoods are those hairy things on their chest.

Cross dressing hens and boys that run with boys, I think you need to eradicate all the turkeys in the area!!! ;D
Just keep trying. Maybe you'll kill one with a beard and spurs ::) :P
Nice lookin' snoods, congrats :icon_thumright:

Snood or snoodless, come one, come all...
I'm glad you finally figured out how to kill one!
WTG!!!
If I remember correctly you were supposed to slam the door on your trigger finger and forget to load your gun. Try this next time and maybe you'll get even more snoods!
Congrats my friend!
Way to go, Ronnie. You sure have a knack for those multiple snood birds. Have you had the water checked lately? I think you got some radiation going on down there. Just sayin".. You single snood shootin' buddy, Mike
Congrats!! :icon_thumright:

I might come out with a new line of calls and that would be a catchy name, The Snood Collector Series. I'd probably get sued by that bone collector guy.
Congrats, good thing you learned how to change your calling to get him to respond, rather than the hens?
That was a hilarious post. Congrats on that triple snood. ;D
Nice snoods on that gobbler, congrats!
Nice bird!!!!!
Bill
:TooFunny: :TooFunny: :TooFunny: I wouldn't expect anything less from a man who has asked so many questions. Congrats Ronnie I figured you were putting the hurt on them.

AHhhhhhh! Beginners Luck. :goofball:.... I can't beleive all them OG tricks worked ;D Congrats on a great bird :icon_thumright:
Thanks everybody. And it's good to see the majority of members took this thread as intended.
On a side note, I don't harvest turkey's. I did get lucky and kill another one this morning though. I wish I could say he put up a hard fought battle, but that just wasn't the case. It took very little trickery to get him to commit.

So the one screech of the barbed wire fence as you leaned against it to listen this morning, brought him in with in gun range?
Congrats!!

Pretty close. It was actually the leaves I kicked away from the base of the tree once I found what I thought was the killing spot that done him in. I knew when I kicked the leaves back and he double gobbled that his time on this Earth was about over.

Harvest is the same as killing to me. Way to go with the "freak nasty kill". Warms my heart to see an old coot still hip with the Bone collector crowd.
;D
:TooFunny: That's more like it.
Just got a call from my Mom and she just killed a triple beard as well. Probably be next week before I get the pics.

Some times I dream, that she is me, Like guesswho's mom, if I could be like guesswho's mom!!!

Good luck with that. I'm her son and I'm on an invite only list :TooFunny: She will be flattered though when I tell her there are people who would like to hunt with her.
It tickles me that she's 70 years old and can still get it down on a regular basis.
Guesswho-
Congrats to your mom. I always enjoy seeing the pictures of her with the birds she's killed. Can't wait to see the triple beard. :icon_thumright:
Those turkeys down there must have some great genetics for multiple beards.
That looks like Fishing success. :gobble:

She flat lays the hate on them ol' longbeards!
I just talked to her again, she said it had beards that measured 6 1/2", 7 1/2", and 10 3/4". I'll get pictures from her this weekend. I'm glad I'm not a wild turkey in the woods she hunts.
