How many extra shells do you carry?

Tail Feathers

I usually carry a gun with two shells in it and two in my vest.  When I'm away from home I load the gun with three.  Strange place...you just never know what you may encounter I guess.
The two in the vest are mostly for if I forget to load the gun.  (Yes, it's happened) :TooFunny:
When I carry my single shot, I have one in the gun and an extra in my front pocket for quick access in case a follow up is needed.
I've had to shoot a couple of birds a second time, but it's rare.  If I see that head up, I always shoot again since I lost one many years ago.
I've never come back from a hunt with no ammo and I don't see the need to carry a bunch of extra ammo and that weight.  I did try carrying a third extra round, a heavy pheasant load for snake medicine but since it looks like my turkey shells I got it mixed up once and don't do it any more.
How many shells do you carry when you hunt?

usually 3 in my gun, and 4 extra in my satchel.. 2 of these extra are just regular heavy load's just in case i need to shoot something else, like a coyote etc.

Two in the gun no matter where I am and two or three in my vest. I figure if I need more than that I'll just quit for the day.

Two.  And rotate every hunt.   Shoot one, it gets replaced and is next in line.  Should clarify that.  One extra. Two total.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

Gun - I carry 2 shells total in the field.

Archery - I carry 2 arrows total  in the field.

Always have extra shells and arrows in the vehicle or at the house.

I carry 3 in my shotgun and have a spare in my vest. An interesting element to this question is how many turkeys you can shoot in a day in your state.  2 birds a day here.

owlhoot

3 in the vest shell loops,  2 are for the gun. A extra 5 pack in another pouch in the vest.
Why so many? Coyotes.

I forgot to mention that I put a box of ammo in the truck and it stays until after turkey season.  Regardless of what is in my vest or gun.  Not having ammo isn't an option!

2 in the gun and 3 in the vest.
2 birds per day, and usually shoot 1 or 2 coyotes a season.

It varies but usually three, back ups in the vehicle.  However I often forget to reload after killing a bird and was carrying 2 a lot of this season.  One area I would have carried five in the gun had it been legal, bears all over that spot!
