At least to me. Why not buy a nice, used one and try it out. Find out if you enjoy it. See what else you might want to make in the future. Get in for very little investment, then upgrade if / when you want to. You'll be able to sell that used lathe for what you probably paid for it, and get a lot of experience and insight along the way before going all in on something you may later realize that you don't need, want, or enjoy. My two cents though, but as always it's worth about two cents!
