nah, there really isn't any Oops about it.

my comments about this getting absurd are nothing but valid.  stoner's bird clearly has multiple beards, as does stephan's, as does mine.

if you can look at this picture and dispute that there are 3 beards clearly separated by multiple inches of skin then you're either blind or senile....

Nice Bird man!!!Really every year it is going to come down to the VooDoo Hunters and Shock and Awe just because we are the two teams who take all the pics. I agree it is silly the fights people start about multiple beards. It is ridiculous. Great year guys!!!! Next year will start the fight that a multipule bearded bird should only get the longest beard counted since not everyone gets to kill one.

honker22

It is silly but i guess the rules are rules.  I am in no place to judge who killed a multiple bearded bird.  It is quite obvious that vastomper's bird is a triple beard.  As far as Stoner's bird, it looks no different than the split on Stephan's bird.  Not sure who is complaining, but i don't think it is from either of our teams.

I bet we will all win the same thing whether we get 1st or last.

Apparently I have missed something.  I didn't know my bird's double beard was in question.  Why didn't I get brought into the conversation?  Could someone give me a link to the thread?

LX,

I believe the conversations would have taken place privately via PM had I not stumbled across the comment's in the voodoo thread.  I opened my mouth about it believing that my bird was the one being disputed (and I'm sure it eventually would have been) and made the whole thing public.  As I said in an earlier post, it was becoming absurd.

I apologize to anyone on Shock Gobble and Awe who may be upset with the events and posts that subsequently took placec after I commented in the Voodoo thread but I felt they had their place and still remain firm in my position on that.  There have been some exceptional birds harvested and it's disrespecrtful and insulting to have their exceptionalism questioned by a few.

I've become a firm believer in discretion in my 26 years and it seems that some, up until now that Shannon has spoken on this matter, were a little too preoccupied with those technicalities.  There's a big difference between a turkey entered in the contest that has 1" spurs and a guy who tries to fudge the pictures to make them look like 1 3/8".  Theres a big difference in a guy who kills a bird with a 9" beard and tries to make it look like it's 10.5".  I believe the rules are in place to prevent instances of such deception.  I do not believe that some should be able to manipulate those rules to discredit birds that clearly, even without a picture of the damn skin, have multiple beards.

I also believe that there has been a productive conversation that has resulted as a consequence.

I was shocked to find out that my bird was being questioned and I hadn't been contacted by anyone.  I wasn't asked if I had any more pics of the beards.  I can tell you that when you are taking pics by yourself, holding a tape in one hand and a camera in the other they don't come out as clear as I would like.

If they determine that my bird was a single beard (for contest sake) so be it.  When I put it on the shelf you can plainly see it is a double beard.  There is a clear 1/4" or so space between each beard.

I don't think anyone was questioning anything with the exception of one of our teammates birds. I asked him to post additional pictures which he did. There were quite a few people still asking questions about it and we were going to just count it as a single beard just to avoid drama. That is when other questions about pictures started showing up. I personally think the whole issue should be dropped for now and if it is a question later, Shannon will address it. I'm tired of hearing about it and it does no good to keep discussing it.
