Depends on the gun, but in most cases probably doable. I'd call a really good gunsmith. Other nice thing about cutting and threading a barrel, particularly if it was a fixed choke, is you can choose the threading. So for instance I've got a buddy put Benelli Mobil threads in an old Winchester Model 12 because he already had good money into mobil chokes. If you need a good gunsmith to call let me know. I've got a turkey nut friend who's been a professional gunsmith since the early 80s. He cuts and rethreads a lot of barrels.
