I have been messing around with different internals on my trumpets, here is a recent one I recorded. This is a Snakewood barrel with ABW bell. I am playing this one very softly in the woods. Please feel free to let me know what you think about the tone.

Hard to tell on a recording but I have heard other sound files from you that I like better. Not trying to be rude just stating what I think. Like I said it's hard to say for sure. Thanks for posting though I enjoy them.

Thanks Chris, it isn't rude, I like the feedback. I like experimenting, so this is fun stuff for me.

Play it loud once like you would normally play. Unless you are specifically just making a soft talker.

I will make a louder recording of it tomorrow. I was playing this time super soft, about as easy as I could to hear it on the recorder 15 yards away. I actually like a trumpet that will play softly, but these internals will play loud too.

Sounds flat or muffled to my ears, but they're old.  Even playing one soft I like to hear clear notes, like some of your other calls.  About the only time birds (er I mean turkeys) sound muffled to me is early morning tree mumbling sometimes.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

Sounds like you are drawing air with your mouth instead of your diaphragm.

I agree with the other folks Greg. When I listen to a sound file of any call, I want to hear it put through the ringer. Soft stuff, aggressive and louder, clucks, yelps, whistles... to show everything the call will do.

I hear ya.... on this one I was just trying to play as quietly as possible, really wanting to hear the tone out of it more than anything considering it was new/different.

I just wanted to say that using your trumpet to imitate the songs of all those different songbirds in the beginning of the tape is very impressive, very versatile and realistic playing.   :)

They were singing pretty, that is one of the nice things about spring gobbler season is being in the woods when it wakes up and hearing the birds
