Along with my Stoeger M3020 I currently have the Mossberg 500 20GA as my pump shotgun. I know a lot of people love the 870, but has anyone had any experience with the Nova 20GA? Was potentially thinking about adding another pump to the shotgun collection but was curious about the Benelli before I dove straight into Remington. If you guys have any other pump recommendations lmk. TIA.

No experience with a 20ga Nova but I have seen a 12ga in the field numerous times. A buddy has one and the forearm rattles so that I think you could use it during the deer rut to imitate a deer fight.

Not to fan the 870 fire as they are not what they once were.....But my newer 870 was made into a shooter.....polished the barrel, MCarbo trigger springs, played with some chokes. I like it but I also like tinkering. Have an 11-87 compact that I am about to start with now.

I've got several new 870s and one new 1187.  None of them needed any tinkering to shoot great patterns.  Everyone of them was setup the same way and all performed equally well.

I don't have experience with the Nova, but I've seen others post about the forearm rattle. I'm sure it's a decent gun, but depending on what your plans are the 870 can be the better option if you plan on customizing it. Benelli parts are expensive and there aren't many to choose from. The 870 has more aftermarket support than any other shotgun made. I picked up a camo 870 Express 20ga last year at Walmart for $330 or so. I had it drilled/tapped, added an optic, a sling and a cheap turkey choke (Rem SF) and bam I had a Turkey slayer!

I own and use an 870, BPS, 500, and Nova. In my opinion, the Nova is the best of the bunch.

I was glad when I got rid of my Nova 12, but I have heard nothing but positive on the 20s.  But only owned an 870.

Want to stay away from the pump rattle as much as possible since I already have that problem with the Mossberg. I do love the aftermarket possibilities of the 870 though

Mossy are rattlers... However, my 20 ga 500 win a 26" Barrel is a Shooter!

I'm an 870 man and always have been. I have four and just bought another barrel for my 20 gauge. Bought the 20" Remington barrel with iron rifle sights so now I'll have a short barrel for turkeys and a 26" for anything else. I sure hope the short barrel shoots as well as my long barrel. It will shoot about anything but really likes heavyweight 7's.

I agree with everyone , you don't want that Nova. You can't find accessories for the Nova , like you can for the 870 or Mossberg ..

Thanks for all the info guys! Leaning towards the 870 now

Don't get hung up on new ones either. The older guns can be had at really good prices and seem to be better quality, even for the express, Than the new ones. I bought my son a youth model about five years ago and they seem of lesser quality than mine. I think I gave $160 for mine used but good shape.
