Can someone please help me with the difference between a jake yelp and a hen yelp. I just read on another forum someone talking about throwing in a jake yelp on a hung up gobbler. Yelps sound somewhat different on every call I play but I really would like to know the difference betwwen a jake yelp and a hen yelp when I hear one.

A jake or gobbler yelp is a long drawn out yelp. It will have a lot deeper tone or real throaty. Roger Parks on Facebook , check him out and listen to his gobbler pots and boxes he makes ..

Also a Jake won't usually Yelp a whole bunch like a hen. Most times I hear Jakes yelp it's a 3-5 note yelp

crow

go on youtube and search wild turkey Jake yelps,
then do the same for wild turkey hen yelps

Cottonmouth

I usually do 3 long drawn out yelps. Called up my biggest bird doing it years ago. You could see the fire coming out of his ears.

Buy Roger Parks gobbler call and invest in his video he offers. Every turkey sound is on it and he shows you how to make the sounds, well worth the money.

howl

Its usually slower and has a more hollow sound. Try the difference between regular yelping on a mouth call an compare to same with lips making an O.

A big 3 5" glass call played more to the middle or a Jordan style yelper work.
