More towards Eau Claire, but just as north. Was definitely pretty quiet the week before 'A' season. They were strutting though...quite a bit. I think all that mild weather (well...before the random snowstorm) broke up the winter flocks and the big boys were already trying to round up the ladies much earlier than usual. I didn't hear a ton of gobbling in 'A' season, but then again I think that was more reflective of them already well established with some hens. One of the rare times a bird sounded alone he trekked 1/4 mile to challenge another tom for his 4-5 hens WWE style.
Eventually got one, but I like when the entire forest is rumbling with gobbles in any given direction. Hopefully the excitement is just a bit delayed this year and the middle seasons will have some action when my next tags are.
Good luck to you all.
