Where do you hold your point of aim on an alert gobbler?

Head
Middle of neck
Base of neck
Somewhere else?
Shoot over top - hunt him another day

BoWhoop

I'll take what he gives me.  In the wide open, facing me, I shoot at the wattles.

Old Gobbler

base of the neck right at the hairline ....... :fud:

I voted base of the neck but I aim where the feathers and skin come together :newmascot:

Gobbling Buck

I aim at the head.  My pattern will knock the baseball size noggin of his sideways, with a few in the neck for good measure.  I hate pickin' feathers out of the breast.

dawgfrombama

wattles or middle of the neck.  Its according to the situation.

deerslayer357

Add another one for where the feathers meet the neck.

I usually hold for the middle of the neck or a touch lower, maybe where skin meets feathers.I dont think I could ever intentionally body shoot a turkey.

Middle of the neck/wattles somewhere in there.  as long as I'm on something between his head and wattle he's dead.  The low neck/body shots on the videos drive me crazy.  Then their next segment is about how great their scope is........really?  You just blew his wing butt off.

He said wing butt.  :TooFunny:

where the skin meets the feathers
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

It depends on how far he is from me. I prefer to aim at the base of the neck when the bird is inside 35 yards or so. Past that point I will aim further up toward his head or directly for it.

Middle of the neck if you enjoy eating the turkey you just killed, just my preference.  I don't like to bite into shot, my dentist likes it though!

I shoot a Burris fastfire - I hold the dot where the neck becomes featherless - I sight in my red dot so that the majority of the pellets are within a 10 inch circle above my aim point.

VaTuRkStOmPeR

20 yards or farther I aim right for the feathers at the base of the neck.

20 yards or less: I body shoot them between the beard and the spot where the feathers meet the wattles if they are facing straight at me.  If they are broadside at that range I shoot them halfway between the wingbutt and the wattles.

Smart longbeard

40 or less the middle of the neck, any thing further i aim at the top of the head.
