Is the original Primos Jelly head tss rated?

I'm gonna go with no. I have the original packing to mine that is designed for the heavier stuff, so if they advertise that then I would say the original one isn't. But I could be totally wrong

I doubt it. I think they came out before most guys even knew about TSS.

I shot a round of federal through my 835 original jelly head the other day without giving it a second thought and it  nasty. No physical damage that I can tell. Not sure what prolonged use might do though.

I have shot quite a few shots of TSS through a 20 ga JH with no issues

I mildly scored mine (original jelly head) up with Heavy shot several years ago.  Believe it was a 660 for benelli Mobil. Polished it up a bit. Still shoots Longbeard XR 5s crazy good.

I shot the old Win Supreme Elite Extended Range Hi-density loads through my 12ga 870 and had no issues. They're not the same thing as the TSS many of us are shooting now. but they were a lot higher density than the older hevi-shot and if I remember correctly also more than the Fed Heavy weight.

Those winchesters were 12 gcc, similar to hevi shot and less than heavy weight and tss, they were great loads I have a case of waterfowl loads left and a handful of turkey loads.

I would shoot tss from the jelly head, i have shot dead coyote from it, think it was t shot hevi shot.

I stand corrected, thanks for correcting me and I did go back and check info and also some of the Win Extended Range and Fed heavyweights I still have in reserve. So this is info I came up with and can help Old Timer make an informed decision on shooting the Jellyhead choke vs. something newer.

     Standard lead turkey shot - 10.5 to 11 gcc
     Standard Heavy-shot, old Win Ext Range or other tungsten blend shot - 12 to 13 gcc
     Fed Heavyweight shot - 15 gcc
     TSS or tungsten turkey loads - 18 gcc

So all that means NO the Jellyhead is not rated for TSS or tungsten shot. I still think you could shoot TSS out of the Jellyhead but you would most likely get a better pattern by going with another tube that's a little more open.

The harder denser shot of TSS in my experience shoots a little better with a more open choke. So I would recommend doing some research on the turkey guns section of the forum here and seeing what other guys who are shooting the same model and gauge gun you are and having success with. That would be a good starting point at least.

Well the original REM 20ga jellyhead I have is .570. Helped a friend pattern this past week who just purchased a "TSS" REM 20ga Jellyhead and it was .560. Seems most "TSS" chokes I've seen available have tighter constrictions than the old "Hevishot" rated chokes. Surely that has to factor in somewhere. I wouldn't think twice about using TSS through it.

You will be fine, I've shot a bunch through one and a old extended Hastings choke with nary a problem.

I shot some apex through an original jellyhead 660 in my 870. Had no issues, saw no damage. I only did it testing. I think it would probably take it, but im not the manufacturer. I know a plethora of people who shoot Remington factory chokes with TSS that are not TSS rated.
