Wing bone lip stop

Hey guys, first post. Thanks for allowing me to be part of this forum.

Will these work as a lip stop on a wingbone?

Yes, if they fit they will work, I have rubber washers on mine. You may want to used more than one. Oh and welcome to the forum, great to have you.

Just on a side note, you may want to get some thinner ones as well, the thicker ones may not be tor your liking, I have 2 of the thinner ones on mine, give me a moment and I will send a picture.

I forgot that I had added the top and bottom ones to keep them from sliding. Sorry for the photo quality, not my best pictures.

If I have to add something to them I am not going to buy them. I have seen some with just one washer or cork on them. Any idea to what size washer I would need? Does anyone on this forum sell pre-drilled corks?

Could I buy a used wine cork, cut it down and drill a hole in it with a dremel to fit my wingbone?

I guess it could be done that way. If you can wait until tomorrow check back then, it seems a lot of the guys that do wingbones/trumpets/yelpers tend to get on earlier in the day, not all but many, I am sure they could add more advise than I can, I am still pretty new myself.

Someone sells them on Ebay for $1.25 they're made out of EVA or something like that. Type in trumpet style lip stop, maybe add turkey call to the description. I do believe a wine cork would work just well also. Stick a drill bit through it and sand it to the shape you want as your spinning it on a drimal tool or just any type of drill.

The ones on Ebay would be the easiest route for sure.  But if you wanted to try and make your own try a #2 stopper, and use the technique Southerngobbler mentioned.  Good luck

I have made my own wing bones and purchased some. The ones I made and purchased did not have the washer. Yet they worked fine for me. I'm curious as to what the benefit is: better sound or just lip placement? Guess I just didn't know any better: neither have the dozen or so turkeys I've killed with wing bones.
