Got the sumtoy mount for my 301T last week and went out Saturday to zero my venom. Backed up to 40 and noticed a slight drop in pellet count from what I was getting last season. Picked up a wad and was surprised to find 20-30 TSS wedged in the bottom. Factory choke and squeaky clean bore. Anyone else experienced this?

The federal TSS shells do this in my gun. Never had the issue with apex though. Are these the new for 2020 apex loads?

Gobblerslobber

Yep, new 2020 loads. Any of you handloaders having this happen? Seems like a cork or felt spacer in the bottom of the wad would help.

Interesting. This past weekend I shot some Federal and Apex from last year. I had this issue with the Federal's but NOT the Apex's

I spoke with them on the phone today, they are aware of this and this was their response.  " Yes sir. We looked into putting something inside the wad and since Tungsten is so dense and hard it did that to everything we tried which is another reason we stepped up to the 7/8 load in the Ninja 410 to put extra pellets (about 14) to help combat that."

Very interesting ... thanks for sharing ...

I've seen this in my hand loads a few times. Cork or felt would help but depending on the load may not be a good option

WOW, maybe that's why my patterns weren't so good. I might have to ride back down to the range and see if any of the wads are still there !!!!

Went to the range this morning and found 5 of my wads with no trace of any pellets !!!

ShootingABN!

I had 12/15 TSS in the wad of the new TSS in .410.

Really not happy with the pattern either. It's my 8 year old Son's gun. WE have to get a better pattern. I expected more out of TSS Apex and Federal, with a custom choke. Maybe I shouldn't have had it threaded.

Had a similar experience today with feberal 9's.  I checked the 3 wads I could find all had about 12 pellets in them yet.

Here's the kicker though, at 20 yards we only had 244 pellets in a 33x40 piece of cardboard.  So if federals are about 295 pellets and I had about 256 total with pellets left in wads.    Where did the other 39-40 pellets go????

I have shot 5 Apex shells, Found all the wads zero pellets found. I'm shooting a Encore 45 410 pistol with a 15" barrel stock. At 20 yds i had 25 in the head and neck and 153 on a sheet of printer paper. At 30 yds i had 10in the head and neck and 63 on the printer paper.

I found this a few years ago with the Federal shells.    Now I have not shot any thing this year from any company so cant say.   I been saying this is why some guns get good numbers some dont.   I have one wad that has 24 shot stuck in it.

In our test that is the only one.   I have found over the past few years the 410 is a very finky little gun.

Unsure if this will help anyone but for those questioning the problem with the 410 pattern i was experiencing the same thing when shooting with a bead.  I quickly fixed this problem with a red dot sight(never used one before) and noticed that the pattern with plain bead was slightly to the left(stephens 410 signle shot). After shooting and tweaking the red dot sight I now have a comfortable pattern with 22 pellets in the head at 40 yards. Apex ninja 9.5 shot.  I think when shooting a subgauge you have such little room for error with the limited pellets you have you have to use a red dot to get your pattern truely hitting perfect.  since putting the red dot on 2 birds have been harvested at 23 then 38 yards.

Not sure if you meant to put this here but it dose not pertain to the OP thread
