Thanks for putting that awesome list together kyheadhunter02. Time and effort much appreciated. I was going to start digging when you're list popped up. Saved me a ton of time

twyatt

Thank you for putting that together - I scratched my head for quite a while trying to decipher what categories were what last night when looking at the winners.

Some super stiff competition this year. Was a room full of absolutely jam up calls.

Issue this year was the duck/goose guys started two hours early and ended up really effecting turkey call judges in my opinion. As hard as the turkey call makers work for this and their entries, I think many call makers need to step up and get this fixed for the future with their complaints.  This has been an issue in years past, but they had a folding wall up this year that made it much louder than usual, amplifying the issue. As hard as the call makers work it doesn't seem fair to me to have to have to try and judge over guys blowing the reeds out the guts of the duck and goose calls, trying to highball over the guy next to him, especially because this is a "turkey show". Best of show, and all the top awards  for the whole show were judged during the peak of duck/goose craziness and that just isn't right.

Call makers and other judges really need to lobby with those in charge to get this changed for the future. They either need to be in total different time slots and no duck/goose callers allowed during turkey call judging, or get them in set up in a different location.

That is unfortunate. Especially when it's specifically an organization for wild turkeys. There's no sense in starting a devide and fighting with the waterfowl guys I don't guess. Seems like it's on the NWTF though. I'm kinda glad I didn't judge now..lol. I may do it next year though. Are you going to do it again?

What category did you judge?

Us Turkey call makers, especially the box call builders have lobbied for years, firmly so, but our well-defended and thoughtfully explained reasoning to the top NWTF 'Brass" has fallen short every time

What category did you judge?

Pot calls. You had some fantastic calls entered Chad.

Definitely on the NWTF. They know plenty of folks will still send calls in, as this year they had more than they've ever had and that was even after letting Karen Cavender go and many call makers said they weren't gonna support it anymore.

Not sure if I'll do it next year if they're gonna set it up the same. I'm just one man, but I'll raise as much hell as I can with Todd and Kevin to see what they can do about making it better for the future. The call makers putting in all the work deserve better.
