Hello all. I read quite a few turkey hunting books and have read most of Tom Kelly's stuff, the old pro, Kenny Morgan, some Lovett Williams, Brian Lovett, and other stuff i see suggested around the forum, but I've never read a turkey hunting novel until i came across One Season. I really couldn't put the book down and it far exceeded my expectations. It has turkey hunting as a central theme and there's a lot of it in there, but it's really about life lessons and family/personal growth. To anyone who is looking for something to read that's a little different than you're probably used to in a turkey hunting book, i can't recommend this book enough. I bought the Kindle version on the kindle app for $4.99 but this is definitely one i'll be getting a paper copy of for my collection.

Having said that, does anyone else have any hunting novel recommendations? Doesn't necessarily have to be turkey hunting, just anything outdoors related would be nice. I don't read many story novels but this was a nice change up.

Thanks for the suggestion, added to my Amazon list. I am reading Haunted by the Gobble right now that was written by one of our members here ctrize and it has been very good thus far. I would also suggest both of Andy Johnson's books Somewhere Along The Way and Dirt Roads and Dogwoods. Here is my list on Amazon, I have gotten some already and have not taken them off the list. https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3RQCKT5W0NAK8?&sort=default

Oh here is a link to information about Ctrize's book http://oldgobbler.com/Forum/index.php/topic,92904.0/topicseen.html

In case you are into archery here is another of my lists though it has a lot of stuff that are not books but hunting related things I have used int he past or thought of trying in the past. https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1O8VXG016CDT0?&sort=default

Couple of non turkey ones come to mind.  I believe every outdoorsman should read The Old Man and the Boy, by Robert Ruark.  Quintessential classic in my opinion, with great stories of growing up in the outdoors and hunting/fishing.  If your have any interest in African hunting, read some of WDM Bell.  Karamojo Safari is a good one.  Bell was probably the greatest elephant hunter of all time.  Killed over 1000 in his life.  Credited with developed the "Bell" shot.  Great adventures in both those books.

For bowhunting/gun whitetails. Anything from Gene and Barry Wensel..."hunting October whitetails". They have a DVD called "primal dreams" that the whole family can watch, no kills, just great wildlife footage and lessons....ethics. I actually had breakfast with them and their wives some years back while doing same sportsmen show in Ohio. Super people....funny as hell
