New SP-10 Owner Questions
« on: October 23, 2019, 12:59:49 PM »
I just got the 23” barrel in Old school Bottom Land. Gun Smith just went through it. It was very crummy. Barrel cleaned nice as well as the rest of the gun. Choke tube is stuck. He tried oil it but no go. I’m worried about soaking the barrel and tube in oil because of the Camo. Has anyone ever soak a Camo gun for a long time? Could I find another barrel? Thanks Bubba

Have you tried kroil? Used it on a buddy’s gun with the same problem.

I would also spray it with a real good gun oil and try to keep it from getting or sitting on the paint..
I myself wouldn't chance letting it soak in anything.

Maybe you could try plugging choke end of the barrel with some kind of rubber plug and then filling inside of barrel with some kroil or solvent. Stand barrel up on end and let it soak awhile. That would keep camo finish safe i would think, just put some rags down so when it starts seeping past the choke and barrel it doesn't make a mess.

I thought the same thing about plugging the end of the barrel and soaking it from the inside. I think you’d be hard pressed finding a barrel, and if you do I’m sure you’ll pay for it.

Updat I got the choke tube out. I let it soak for over a year lol. I would try it every now and then. Yesterday used a little persuasion (Crescent Wrench) lol and got it out. Bubba

Awesome! Glad to hear you were able to get it out without damage. Patience is one of the best tools you can use!
