Whats everyone's favorite striker to run with Buster's red slate?

Right now mine is a two piece Clay Townsend snakewood with a persimmon top.

I normally don't like snakewood on slate, usually I run it on glass.

These two however go together like peas and carrots!

Side note: Thanks Larry for building my calls there great!

I would think that striker would make anything sound good...Its an absolute piece of art!

Busters red slate almost has a glass like sound to it...very crisp!

You make some beautiful strikers also Jeff what's your favorite out of your strikers to run on that red slate call?

That Townsend snakewood is what I used this spring, I have added a JLH snakewood and a pernambuco that sound really good on the red slate as well. All really good strikers for slate or glass pots.

I use my Lyman black locust on almost every slate I have including Busters. My Townsend sounds great to but to me the black locust brings something out of the slates that none of my other strikers seem to do.

My "favorite"changes quiye often....but a few that always sound great on it are Nicaraguan Rosewood,  Pernambuco, and Sucupira (thats not a typo)

I got three of the strikers in this thread from bottom to top Clay Townsend snakewood, Lyman snakewood and JLH heavy heavy and they all sound good on this call.

My preference leans toward the snakewood which I normally don't like on slate and it seems to be one of the most recommended in this thread.

Going to have to try those JLH suggestions pernambuco and rosewood, you make a really nice striker Jeff.

Guess I will have to put my lyman snakewood to it. I have not even tried snakewood on it. I never considered it because I dont care for it on slate.

Yep I also hated it on slate in the past.

Try that lyman I think you will be surprised it runs really well on the red slate, I don't care for it on green or grey but it has a nice roll over and raspy backend on the red slate.
