I know this thread is old, but don't let Wendell escape your purview.
He makes a unique little scratcher that, in my experience, works when other calls won't.
Can't tell you how many times I've gone through half a vest of calls and then tried Wendells'. BOOM!
That and he's a really nice man...

   He does make a nice scratchtube that sounds great and he is an awesome guy to deal with, called me after the fact to see how I liked his call.

As of right now, I like the mulberry best because I've killed the most birds with it. That may be a function of actually USING that call the most.
I'm always buying new calls, so I'm always trying new calls.
Since I've had success with the mulberry, I tend to carry it in my vest more often and use it since it's there.
I think pretty much any of them would be good calls. By the sound of this dogwood one, I think it's going to be one of those always in my vest calls.

I have a wormy persimmon and a sassafras ordered that will be here tomorrow.
Had a wonderful conversation with him and I'm gonna make the short trip over and spend some time with him and probably add some more.
