Just got a new Mossberg SA-20 turkey. They advertise 5.6 pound. I weighed mine with the choke and a very thin nylon sling, it tipped the scales at 6 pounds 6 ounces. That's quite a discrepancy in my mind.

Just broke it down and cleaned her. The fitting in general is IMO a little better than my 11-87. All in all a solid little gun, the barrel quality looked much better than my other Mossbergs and Remington. The sights she came with do not appeal to me at all and will be swapped out to Truglo Pro series sights. I'll give the factory choke a chance with my handloads. For the life of me I can't put my hands on my caliper to measure it, but a very reliable source told me it's .580. If she can throw 275-280 at 40 I won't bother with another choke. Will run a few rounds in it this weekend and most probably hunt it after POA/POI confirmed. Will report back Monday on it.

Look forward to hearing about how it works for you.

Let us know how it shoots. I've been thinking about one myself.

Measured the choke and rib. Choke is a .585 and the vent rib is a .275 or 7mm, so TruGlo Pro series won't work.

The barrel is chromed lined.  My brother and I both have them, they are sweet little guns.

Shot it over the weekend, but didn't bring enough shells for a through testing. Had 2 extra in the vest once the hunting was over. Shot a few low brass 8's to check POA/POI. The little gun cycled those with no problem. Then I shot a few pine cones just to play and try to give the sight a fair shake, it's getting replaced. The first turkey load was shot without any cleaning and the gun put up a respectable 276/214. Before the second shot a ran a bore snake thru two or three times and got a 212 on that shot. Didn't count the 20 on that, but I'd guess about the same. It was pretty open. I'll bring more shells this weekend and try a couple more on a fouled bore and see if the pattern holds, if not I'll be looking for another choke.

I've got one this year and love it. Best patterns I've found so far have been Nitro 8x9 with an IC .562. 330+ at 40 in 10" circle. Very impressed. The only thing I'm not impressed with is the weight as well. I put it on my digital refrigeration scale and it was 6lbs 7oz with my vortex venom red dot. Overall though it's a shooter with TSS.

Did you notice a big variation between a clean/fouled barrel? I'm cool with a consistent 275, but I'm not OK with 60 pellet swings.

I think there was more variation shot to shot when I first got mine.  I just bore snake barrel 2 times after every shot.
Last 3 shots I patterned with .562 IC and 1 5/8oz 9's were all 325ish in 10" and 180ish 20".
The weight I do not notice, it feels the same in hand as my M2(known to be one of the lightest auto 20's).  It carries a little better to me because of the shorter length.

I never noticed any difference between fouled or clean barrel. I agree it carries nice and shoots nice for such a short barrel.

I'll probably end up with an IC. All my other guns have one, expect the 10 gauge.

Kwild835, would you weigh your M2 for me? I'd like to know the real world weight. My 11-87 compact  with Truglo sights, a IC choke and Butlercreek neoprene sling weighs 7.3 pounds

Gen.27:3

My SA20 turkey model weighs 5.5 pounds on my scale.
