Help with Duck ID

My buddy called asking about some ducks he saw while fishing.  He gave me the description and I can not think of any native duck with these characteristics.

Brown Body, Black head with white VERTICAL line, dark beak, little white on wings, and a little white on its rump.

Also roughly the same size as a wood duck.

What do y'all think?

I told him that it sounds like a blue wing teal but he said that wasn't it.

could be some kind of mixed breed???

Thats what I told him.  I said it either has to be a teal or some time of ornamental duck.

definitely sounds like a teal and we've been seeing bunches of them while out chasing the gobblers lately.
