We are newbies to turkey hunting so to speak. We started this obsession a few years ago, when he started wanting to hunt turkeys. I had never hunted turkeys, so we are learning as we go. He was able to kill a jake last year. After a few close calls the last couple of years he finally sealed the deal on a longbeard. He was a little disappointed when we realized it only had a little bump for spurs, but the 9" beard made up for that disappointment.

Congrats. I am sure his day is coming to walk up to a bird he just shot and flip him over to find some nicer Spurs. To me it's always like opening up a Christmas present. The excitement is what makes it fun

You can't usually check the spurs until you ground check him. I have killed one with 10 1/2 " beard that had no spurs. He was born Tom and took me 5 mornings to kill him.

Genesis 27:3 - Now then, get your weapons—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

Thanks
Love making memories with him. If I can just get my youngest son interested.
