Box call spring noise

I have a couple box calls that when you stroke the lid across the box you can definitely hear the lid spring, it sounds tinny if that's the word.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Wax your springs, you can use just a car wax.

You can also take the springs out, this is the way long boxes are, springless, it allows you better control over the paddle. Just a suggestion, pappy
