Hobbes...every one I ever built I always seem to end up around $1000.00 for parts, but I use top of line locks and barrels and good grained maple since I'm building them for myself to hunt with.

You can get by a lot less though...around $500 and still end up with good gun.

I was hunting in Pope Co. area of Shawnee and yesterday was the first decent day weather wise since the season opened first part of March.

I was in south Pope last week.  Tough weather.  We killed Shawnee birds on the  two nice mornings we had in the third.

Maybe one day I'll build a gun like that.  Seems I found some photos of a guy building a similar gun a while back on a traditional forum.  I believe they were using the same barrel you have that is specially made for turkey hunting.

Thanks for all the nice comments on the gun and bird. I cut my teeth on Easterns back in Ga. and S.C. but that's the first Eastern I've killed in bout 30yrs. since I moved from Ga. to Fl. Been harassing the Osceola's till I moved up to S. Illinois.

I put a Colrain Turkey Choke Barrel on it and it patterns pretty good. This one is from about 15 or 20yds. My rear sight fell off squirrel hunting and was adjusting a new one. I think I may have posted it was a 35yd pattern, but it's not.

This one is a little over 35yds. Click on thumbnails for bigger picture.
