Mix and Match Decoys?

Anybody do this when it comes to brands? I wouldn`t think that there would be too much problems with that but I`m not the most experienced when it comes to turkey decoys. Have a DSD hen on the way and would like to put her out in front of my 3/4 strut Primos Jake. Thanks guys.

Gobbler is going to go to the Jake 99% of the time anyway. so he will see the dsd hen but probably wont pay it any attention as he will go fight the jake

Yep, kind of thought that. The hen primarily serves to catch his eye but as soon as he sees the jake .....

I'm sure someone out there on the internet hunts turkeys that are smart enough to know the difference between brands, but I haven't found any yet. LOL.

I rarely ever use decoys but look at it this way. Turkeys instinct makes them very wary , however there brains are the size of walnuts and they cannot reason. I dont buy into having to have the most authenic decoy out. That being said they need to be halfway realistic at least. As far as mix matching you should be fine. Turkeys come in different shapes, sizes and shades. Look at the piles of birds killed with foam decoys that in my opinion were alot smaller than many hens I have seen. I have a couple of montana decoys I tote because they are compact and light. Most of the time they never see action. I move while working birds too much to fool with them. I will use them seldom in late morning or afternoon when blind calling and relaxing , more so to have something else just to look at.

For fall hunting, I carry a small flock of decoys of various brands and materials...whatever I can pack.

Funky chicken is one ugly decoy but it has produced last 2 years for me .

I had Feather Flex mixed in when I first started buying my DSD's until I replaced all the foam bodies, didn't bother them at all.

As long as it looks more like a turkey than anything else as far as the turkey is concerned that's all it can be.
