My wife and I got home last night. I got to meet a few guys on here and thoroughly enjoyed it. My health did not cooperate like I had hoped and did not get to the floor yesterday. But I did manage to see a lot of stuff Thursday night and Friday. I could only stand for about 15 minutes at a time and would have to go out in the lobby to rest. I missed so many great callmakers tables I had intended to visit. But I did manage to buy a few calls that I will post pics of later. You walk in one end of the room and you have Lamar Williams, Darrin Dawkins, Lewis Stowe, Lon Trice, Billy Buice, Bob Harrell, etc. all sitting in a row. A man could spend the whole show just with these guys. I am always blown away by the consistency of Darrin's box calls. Every one you pick up and play sound so similar and nothing but pure Hen turkey. I asked Lamar if he had any scratch boxes with him. He said he had a couple but they were sold being delivered. He pulled one out that was made in a Neil Cost style in red cedar with a walnut soundboard. He let me run it and let's just say that is the one call that I would have driven all the way to Unicoi to buy. What a tease.

I'm glad I got to meet you Hunter22 and that you made it. I agree with ya on Darrins boxes they are really something else. I was able to get 2 really special calls from Lamar Williams. One is a handled shortbox that is in Walnut/ Magnolia he said hes not made many of these and none in magnolia and I got a matching shortbox in magnolia. They sure are some great sounding boxes for sure.

I was tickled to see and play calls that I've only ever read about, but the real treat was meeting the people.  Some real class acts in that place and I enjoyed every minute of it.  Mr. Rickey I pray you can recuperate from the trip and gain some strength.  I cannot wait for next year.
