Missouri's killing me

It seems I'm either getting drenched or having to tromp through shin-deep mud to get anywhere.  I actually had a nice bird come during a rain storm last Friday, but his wet beard was stuck to his chest, and I couldn't tell if he was a jake or if he even had a beard (legal issue).  He didn't gobble or strut, so it wouldn't been a boring kill anyway.  Something interesting, though...I think I've managed to call in more hens than I ever remember doing before, but of course, they seem to be only hens in the state without gobblers following them.   

Oh well, I'm going to relax for a couple of days and let some blisters heal.  Maybe they'll wanna play later on in the week...Good huntin' all!

Come on stinky kill one on a raining day!  Make sure you weigh it as soon as you kill it too!!  It'll probably weigh 30#'s or more!!!!   Wouldn't hurt if it fell in the mud too!

LOL!  He lost a lot of his "water weight" on the ride home.

I was reminded of a valuable lesson, though.  DO NOT stand on their necks when they drop into mud puddles.  The wings flung mud up into my face and all over my clothes, gun, binocs, and so on.  My teeth are still gritty.

We had our fill of the storms this morning, never even heard a gobble but we did manage to score somewhat.

Nice video Hardcore. We are starting to see some evidence of wild hogs just south of where I live. Don't wont the rascals around here.
