Why do you think so many call builders like butternut for boxes ? Are you a fan of butternut boxes ? What is your favorite lid comb with butternut ...

Billy Bush paddle call with osage over butternut is very, very hard to beat.
A quality paddle caller will most run itself. It just needs someone to carry it around the woods.

Neil Cost said Cedar best for lids, butternut best for boxes. Don't take his word for it, just look at all the butternut boxes that come up on the classifieds. And how many butternut boxes you have, I have four the most of my boxes out of 9. Let's make it a survey on butternut boxes. How many do you own? My favorite combo is a cedar/butternut long box by Mr Snodgrass.

I have a Marlin Watkins bloodwood over butternut fiddle box and it's a pure killer!! I killed a bird with it 30 minutes into opening morning. Marlin will tell you that if you want a pure turkey killing machine/great hunting box that bloodwood over butternut is the best he makes.

I also have a bloodwood over butternut paddle from Tim at No Bull. It is all turkey all the way.
A quality paddle caller will most run itself. It just needs someone to carry it around the woods.
