Thinking of having briliey thread barrel on a fixed 10 gauge and using there chokes.anybody have this done.not sure if I want flush or extended chokes.anybody have any experience with them?

Briley will do a decent enough threading job. But I would make sure I was able to get the shotgun thread pattern of my choice if at all possible, not anything proprietary to Briley. Extended chokes are the only way to go.

 I had Briley thread a Spanish made double 10ga. in their pattern. Most 10ga. SxS's and singles don't have the barrel wall thickness for Invector or Rem choke. Briley is expensive but their workmanship is top notch. I had two extended tubes built by them in .705" for shooting #4 & #5 lead and two flush mount tubes in .725" for BB lead coyote loads. I didn't want Tru Choke threads because there are no options for doubles except .740'' full flush mount. Can't use Colony 10ga. turkey tubes in a SxS because because the OD of the extended part is too thick and extends over the other barrel. I still have my first dedicated turkey gun, a H&R 176 10ga. with a .740" fixed choke, that bought for $80 as a 16 year old back in '86. Had to have my mom buy it for the paper work purposes. I've been thinking about sending it to Briley and have it threaded since I can use the tubes from the SxS.

Thanks for the info. Do u think they can make a .690 flush choke? And I would like to shoot tss . On there site they list chokes for tungsten steel. Is that tss?rather than using that choke no. They used choke restriction nos like extra full being 40, very confusing, once they have barrel and measure bore I hope they let me pick the choke size buy using the choke no . And not the restriction ammount.

I had a guy named Mike Orlen who is a gunsmith and moderator on the gunsmithing forum at www.shotgunworld.com thread my 10 ga barrel. He did a great job and only charged $55 plus $25 for 2 way shipping. Only drawback was i had to go with Tru Choke threads due to barrel thickness limitations. Like mentioned earlier in this thread, this greatly limits your choice of choke tubes. I had Sumtoy make me one in .685 and it works great but I would like to be able to swap and try different chokes but they simply are not out there. Have you tried shooting TSS out of the gun with the fixed choke it currently has? It will probably surprise you as to how well it will do, especially with TSS 7 or TSS 8.
